1. The Beatles
With John and George still alive. :-(

Honestly, though, who knows how they would have been or fared after 1970 (ditto others, like Buddy Holly from 1959 on), had they stayed together or re-formed. Even their solo efforts, although some of the earlier stuff was actually rehearsed with the other Beatles, don't necessarily provide an indication. Would they have weathered disco? Would they have kept up pumping out great records in the '80s and '90s?

One thing's for sure: the supercilious rock critics that evolved in the late '60s would've attacked them for no longer 'innovating' and probably also for no longer 'being relevant.' So perhaps they split at the right time. But, still, to regroup as a band within the past 15 years or so, doing occasional sessions and some degree of touring in the new generation of stadium venues....that'd have been great, no matter how you cut it.

I just saw Paul live -- of them all, he was the most prolific and probably the most compelling live performer after the Beatles broke up, but I could definitely see all four of them putting on a similar show, though the thought is so mindboggling as to be barely within comprehension.

Champaign, Illinois area band, mid to late '90s, had a big radio hit in '95. I totally loved them, and they just vanished after their fourth album.

4. David Byrne is still around, isn't he?
He was the band. I enjoy his solo stuff as much as anything the band did.

5. Did you see he was on the Simpsons the other night?
They had him drawn with totally white hair, that was a surprise.
Yeah his solo stuff is great too, I love that Rei Momo CD.
But it would be great to see them together again.

9. Hmmm, somebody told me that a Genesis reunion...
...might be on the horizon. The only stipulation is that Peter Gabriel said that he would be interested if they do all-new material instead of re-visiting the past.

Of course, this is just one of those things you hear from a "friend." I really don't know if this is truly for real...

31. They'll tour together when Gabriel releases his next album.
So, we'll have to wait at least another 10-20 years.

They were touring a couple of years ago, as a one-time thing, and I missed it.
