The War on Couscous

I sometimes eat it with PESTO, too. In fact, I am such a pretentious liberal, it's sometimes sundried tomato AND basil pesto. As per comments made by Michael Savage, I am not just any liberal, but the epitome of PRETENTIOUS liberal(s) because I eat couscous?!?

Algerian couscous in its most common form has those hot spicey little sausages called "mergues" (merguez) that are made with donkey meat. They are very tasty but hard to find in the U.S. You also need the Sidi Brahim red wine (the kind of very strong wine grown on Algeria's coast).

I've never heard that couscous was now somehow liberal. That sounds funny to me. That would sound something like quiche being something an effete snob would eat. Yet, quiche is eaten by a cross section of Europeans in the northeastern part of France as commonly as pizza is eaten in the southeast. How can a food define someone's politics?

... but it is a gourmet treat compared to quinoa. :) My wife is always coming up with new stuff because one of the boys is allergic to wheat, eggs, dairy, etc.
