How can anyone not like him? I mean you can disagree with him politically but how can you not just feel his warmth and compassion.

5. He's a hammer swinging man like John Henry?
I heard that JC can beat any steel driving machine they can come up with it.

7. Well, that was a while ago... I think he uses an
air gun now. Age does catch up with all of us... at least we have technology to help us now.

3. I believe he is one of the few who is as he appears.
I love Jimmy Carter! He is a true elder statesman.

10. He personally wrote my sister an answer to her letter.
She thanked him for being a great man. That was about fifteen years ago. The guy is just like my dad. Right down to the wood shop.

11. I've always had a lot of respect for him.
I know there were some weak points in his presidency and I don't think he's perfect, but overall I think he was just too good of a man to be a politician (especially compared to who we've got now!)

12. He always seemed to be a
genuine warm person to me, unlike the actor or the idiot. Also he practiced his religion instead of using it as a weapon. Whether you believe or not, he is what a Christian should be.

Always have, always will. I just bought his new book for Dad's Christmas present... but am wondering if it would be tacky if I read it first. :)

16. As genuine as can be.
I remember Dan Aykroyd playing Carter on SNL, talking a caller down from a bad acid trip. It was funny, but seemed like it could have happened.

17. My sister and her husband are ministers
in the Atlanta area and have had occasion to meet President Carter a few times. They both completely love the guy, and say he is as warm and real as he appears to be. Very impressed with his genuine compassion - and they say he's incredibly intelligent too.
