11. especially with global warming
soon you'll have to move to Europe to see snow, once the saline pumps shut down in the North Sea and the Gulf Stream ends and the Ice Age starts in Europe.

29. today i told my son to put his window up in the car
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 12:35 AM by shugah
(he was trying to get some snow off the roof to throw at me.)

"i don't need to heat the great outdoors," i told him.

"it is the responsibility of every american to contribute to global warming," he responded, before rolling up the window and proceeding to toss snow at me.

later in the day, i told him to wheel the trash barrel out. i noted that it was not as full as it usually is. he said i was shirking my duties - that it is my responsibilty to help all the landfills in the country reach full capacity!

yeah, he's a smart*ss. but he has a great, albeit sarcastic, grasp of the ills of the world.

next weeks goals - drive as little as possible (the trip with the global warming comment could easily have been walked) and even less trash to wheel out (tho this may be his ultimate goal - he is a teenager, and taking out the trash is his responsibilty ;-) )

We just had our first snow storm in DC and it looks like that now. :-)

6. OMG! SNOW IN DC!!!
time to shut everything down for a week!

y'know what they need to do in the DC metro area with all the money they spend for road maintainence and snow removal? they need to send some people somewhere that gets real snow and learn how to effectively remove snow! i used to love they way they would praise the "snow fighters" for having the highways clear, all the while ignoring the fact that all the snow had been plowed into mountains on the entries/exits - so no one could get on the highways anyway!! :eyes:

having said that, i do kinda miss that a snowfall = a day off (at least a day ;-) )

plus, it hides the mystery bodily fluid stains on the sidewalk.

19. sorry, meant to reply to the post right above yours.
I'm clumsy as hell sometimes.

I live right up against the Rockies, so I'm pretty used to big snowstorms.

I find it amazing to visit Nashville or DC or other places where an inch or two, or even the threat of an inch or two paralyzes the whole city. Nashville is hysterical when it snows.

My evening gig was cancelled, but I had morning and afternoon rehearsals in Rockville yesterday.

Being a die-hard Beltway avoider, I drove home along Beach Drive, then around the Mormon Temple, then through Sligo Creek Park. Everything was gorgeous! :)
