"EXTREME PROCESSING" PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE -- ROUND 4

This special Photography Group Challenge is on the subject of "Extreme Processing." In other words, what entrants here have done with their photographs using post-processing techniques (usually involving some form of image editor) to make the final result a significant departure from the original photo, as well as a pleasing image in its own right.

Each entry consists of the final ("after") image, plus a smaller version of the original photo ("before").

The top two finishers in each preliminary round will move on to the finals, along with the next two images with the next highest overall vote totals.

We'll be keeping the polls up through Saturday.

I might go so far to say that my fave of all is in this set.

St. Louis still stands, so no need for it to RIP. Also, if the RIP was in reference to New Orleans, NOLA still stands, albeit without many of the homes, but it WILL be rebuilt and repopulated.

Having said that, the photoshopped cathedral is beautiful.

Who's it going to be?

both computer effects and a very creative touch. The effects have caused the roof to become the Mountain itself.

The Catherdral also has a haunting way of drawing one in.

Double Jolt tells a story and has outstanding effects. Did huge amounts of trial and error go into that? The special effects don't stick out in and of themselves. It feels like that pix IS what happened. Lots of narrative going on there. My imagination is buzzing.

Memory also takes a pre-existing image in a pre-existing photo and gives both the sculpture and the first photo new life. I'm a sucker for Classical stuff.

The Rose and the Drop of Flower are both very pretty. But the special effects seem very much on the surface. Of the two, Drop of Flower works best as the rings and the composite flower petals radiating outward give the whole pix lots of movement. Lots of fun, feel like I'm twirling the flower in my hand.

Carmel by the Sea wonderfully a place and the painterly effects used help me to appreciate the effort the photographer out into altering the whole pix.
