26. Three bulging disks in my neck.
Two weeks ago I had my second epidural steroid injection, and the radiologist punctured my dura, causing me to leak spinal fluid. That causes a host of problems, including excrutiating pain, nausea and dizziness.

The worst part is that I had this shot right before the holidays so I could have some pain relief in my store's busy season. I ended up being told I had to be on bed rest, which was impossible. I managed to take a couple of days off work last week, though.

Still feel like crap, in general.

Thanks for the opportunity to vent. :)

I am home and relaxing just fine. Yep, there's some pain, but that's what percocet is for.

The doctor called this morning to check on me and he told me he is pleased with the way the procedure went yesterday.

Getting around is difficult, so I'm going to relax as much as possible.

In May I came down with Bell's Palsy from which I still haven't had a complete recovery. In September I had to have half of my thyroid removed because of a benign tumor. And I am currently taking antibiotics for a sinus infection. Here's to better days in 2006.

39. Currently the arthritis is my worst problem
I have it in my lower back and my left knee as well as my hands. The cold weather combined with the busy season at work is taking its toll. I have a very physical job that involves a lot of lifting - to protect my back, i have to be very careful to lift with my legs but with my knee, I have to essentially lift with ONE leg. It's actually rather comical to watch.

The carpal tunnel in both wrists doesn't help - I often feel like what I'm lifting is going to slip right out of my grasp. Still, I'm grateful that I CAN work, and that I'm able to do most of the things I want to.

 s to you - this is not a contest that anyone wants to win.

44. Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome/Hughes Syndrome
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 12:38 PM by fight4my3sons
a rare blood clotting disorder

diagnosed in 2000 after 2 miscarriages

was able to have three children with treatment of anticoagulants and baby aspirin during pregnancy

I have been on 81mg Aspirin since being diagnosed, but have recently started back on Warfarin (within the past month) to try to control neurological symptoms that I've been having since the birth of my twins in 2004. Mainly migraines, but also dizziness, a "fuzzy" feeling in my head, saying the wrong word when I speak, pain in my eyes, foot rolling under when I walk, etc. I am also on Topamax for the migraines. Since starting the Warfarin, the symptoms have gotten much better. It was a rhuematologist that prescribed it. I found him on my own and made the appointment after doing a ton of research online and speaking to other people with APS. I got so tired of the neurologist and primary physician telling me that it was just stress when I knew it wasn't. Sometimes you have to keep on fighting for yourself and asking questions. It is so frustrating when a lot of the medical profession knows so little about your disease.

Sorry about the rant.

71. My mother thought I was posessed by demons
When I was 9 or so to 14 - or possibly the present day. Christmas always brings it back hard. Four Square Gospelest Churches do a version of exorcisms. Having a daughter in the same age bracket makes me deal with it as well.

Aside from that - I am doing well, but my left heel is making me limp for 2-3 minutes each morning.

85. Heck yes
And you should get yourself to a doctor for treatment. A week is too long to go with a continuous or near-continuous migraine. If you've had fewer than 4 pain free hours (not including sleep time) at any point for 3 or more days that is a condition called Status Migrainous. That can be a very serious condition, and in rare cases it can lead to Migrainous Stroke.

86. Hey Buffy
 Sounds like you have some experience with this. In 20 years of dealing with these damned things that's first I've heard of sm or ms. I mostly have them under control, but I let my sleep issues get out of hand (insomnia) and this always happens if I do that. To top it all off I let myself run out of meds. Have to get something called in to the pharmacy.

88. Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Mine's in the terminal ilieum (small intestine). Symptoms are a bit graphic so I'll skip most of them, but mine's like having appendicitis all the time. I also am a consecutive stone former, meaning I form and pass kidney stones every 30-60 days, which is rare enough, but extremely rare in chicks. Come to think of it, a lot of the stuff I have is not very common in chicks (FSGS, the form of arthritis I have, etc) but I balance it out by having cystic ovaries.

Oh, and my right arm has extensive tendon/nerve damage, which is why I've been here so long yet have under 5K posts - can't type for very long.

Where's my prize, dammit?

I went to the grocery store. My aunt looks for the flyers and advertisements in either the paper or the mailbox every day. She just salivates over the pictures of all the grocery store foods. The grocery list got longer and longer this time with no end in sight. I was struggling to push the cart around and I think I pulled something between my neck and my upper back. My lower back hurts too, because there was a sale on cat litter (28 lbs. size) and I lifted it wrong. So now, my neck, shoulders, and upper and lower back all ache. I'm going to be in major pain in the 29 degree temps in the morning when I go take my final final exam for this semester.

Its absolutely wonderful to get the "funny bone" feeling extending down my entire left arm all the way to my ring and pinky fingers. :sarcasm: Never mind the pain, or the discomfort when trying to sleep, oh, and forget about the fact that I'm left handed, so my handwriting is suffering. Doesn't compare to what you have though, best wishes.

99. Arthritis
throughout my body- my feet, knees (one knee replaced twice so far, and I'm only 50), hips, back, elbows, hands, and neck. Aggrivated by rotting teeth due to the arthritis treatment, and tinnitis from the pain meds (tramadol is asprin-based).

Other than those small aggrivations, life is peachy.

I have an idea what you are going through because one of my dearest friends has it.

I have fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, lymphedema,SAD, a cyst on my nerve in my foot, carpal tunnel, which also gives me a terrible time typing.

However, I feel pretty lucky: I survived a bad car accident which broke both maxilla, a heart attack and I'm approaching my 5 year cancer survival benchmark.

108. Reflex Syndrome Dystrophy aka Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Talk about obscure and bizarre.

Very painful and it's now a battle of wills. I refuse to let this drag me into its hell hole, so I have to work out and rehab through massive pain, monitoring the doses of steroids and pain killers.

I will be fine ultimately. What sucks is having all this pain and basically no... evidence? I LOOK fantastic, (except for the bruise on my ass, see GOPISEVIL about that) especially now that I'm in the gym 4 days a week working out. But the pain is horrific!

I believe in this case, in mind over matter.

111. Sciatica
Never had back problems until hitting range balls, of all things, a year ago September in Miami. I should have quit but hit the entire large bucket. The pain spread down my left lower back into my butt then down my left leg and eventually to my left foot. Now I have persistent painful stinging in the upper instep and alongside my big toe. On the top and other side of the foot I have numbness. Last October I could barely walk for a month but now the pain is restricted to that foot, with only occasional lower back problems. I'm constantly soaking and rubbing my foot even though I realize it's a nerve problem and not directly related to my foot. Next week I'm heading to Miami for the holidays and supposedly my friend has a doctor who specializes in back woes and may be able to help.
