Bill O'Reilly's favorite movies
Don't blame me. This week's Top Ten Idiots drove me to O'Reilly's website. I noticed that O'Reilly has a list of his favorite movies. Why would they list such a thing? Is it pushing a right wing agenda?

Actually, no, it's a pretty banal list of classic American movies like the Godfather (I and II), Rocky, Easy Rider, Shampoo, Young Frankenstein... Pretty boring, like the rest of the clueless, unfocused vanity site. The damn thing's obviously a not-too-stealth advertisement for Netflix, written by somebody (not O'Reilly) who doesn't know anything about movies. Like the blurb for Young Frankenstein:
Dr. Frankenstein's grandson, a deadbeat, inherits the castle and attempts again to achieve his grandfather's maniacal dream

Anyone who's actually seen this movie knows young Victor Fronkensteen was anything but a deadbeat. He was an accomplished medical professor. Several other blurbs indicate similar ignorance. What a silly waste of my time!

It does feature Carrie Fisher in her screen debut.

The first on-screen spoken line of her career: "Wanna fuck?"

5. Her parents must have been proud.
Then again, it was the 70's, right?

I never saw the movie. Maybe if it hits late-night cable.

7. I saw it at the theater in 1975

I can see why O'R likes it - it's non-stop sexual escapades, even though they feature Warren Beatty.

I don't remember much more than the Carrie Fisher line and that Goldie Hawn was in it.

6. Is there a RW slant to the captions?...... :
Easy Rider: Three anarchists attack America by motorcycle and are finally gunned-down by Charles Bronson's brother, Stan.

Godfather 1 and 2: Immigrant family freeloads off system and eventually turns to crime, with predictable results.

Rocky: Hard-working Italian-American battles visible minorities and Soviets to defend America.

Young Frankenstein: Jewish comedians desecrate one of America's greatest stories.

10. Thank Christ none of those are on my top ten
And his Godfather's inclusion makes that risk pretty high for most people.

I really doubt O'Reilly has 1 molecule of movie buff in him. Creativity and art is like his krypton. Well one of them.

16. Interesting - Shampoo is on his list
For those who have seen it, this is the ultimate "stick-it-to-the-man" movie. Male hairdresser has sex. Lots of it. With women. Everyone thinks hes gay. Rich republican invests in his salon. Hairdresser proceeds to have sex with his wife, his mistress and his daughter. All the time the guy has no idea, thinking hes gay. Great movie.
