Strange credit card offer in today's mail

Has anyone gotten one of these? It has "Rebate Check Enclosed" in big letters on the envelope with smaller letters saying "A new visa or mastercard is reserved for" and then my name and address.

Opening it, I found a check for $3.25 (?) made out to me and a notice with lots of fine print that says to accept a new credit card, all I have to do is deposit or cash the check. I wonder how many people just deposit it without realizing they're getting a frigging credit card (with an $89 annual fee).

It was an odd mail day anyway - I also got a flyer urging me to vote on November 8th!

I've never seen one of these offers packaged like this and I'm curious if others have. I get offers regularly for credit cards but this one was different. Odd and sneaky.

me in some "savings" program or another, always accompanied by a check for $2.50 or some nonsense. I always throw them out. Hell, it would cost me more than that to go to the bank :).

I wonder if anyone here has ever been the sole poster on a thread for any length of time. I talk to myself all the time. Seems I could probably post to myself for quite a while without running out of things to say.

I mean, what's the point? It's not like you're interacting with anyone - you're just having this one person, two sided conversation.

I'm interacting with MYSELF, thank you very much and if you weren't so narrow-minded, you'd see how enlightening that can be. I'm getting an in-depth look at my own duality - not everyone has that opportunity.

I have this self-same conversation with myself on a regular basis, with minor differences:

"Oh, god NO! Don't post that! Oh, hell! That is so embarrassing and juvenile!"

"So what? I'm letting off steam after a tough day."

"That thread will sink like a stone!"

"You think I care? You're goddamn right, I do. I take PRIDE in sinking like a stone."

"Haven't you done this enough? Cripes, this isn't even original. It's pedestrian and sophomoric."

"So go troll GD, you fucking brainiac. I wanna relax and have some fun."

It goes on like this. Usually I give up in disgust and don't even post the thread. "Oh, fuck it," I say, and hit the back button.

husband accidently used one too - had to yell at company to get it off - of course it was a card that had fees, so when that first bill came with a balance due and no clue what it was - track it down to small check he thought was a mail in rebate for cat food or something ---- predators!
