I can completely see why Vicodin is addictive....
I'm taking Vicodin for a back injury. It's working great, but I can see the addiction potential with this stuff.

It puts you in a "safe warm place" like nothing else I've ever taken. I will try to take this stuff sparingly, because I could easily see myself falling into that warm safe place...

2. For the non-addict, it's great for pain, BUT...
for the addict, it will kill him or her much faster than the pain will.

3. It's a nice l'il treat, isn't it? Like a consolation prize
for being all fucked up with pain.

But yeah, using it sparingly is a good idea.

4. I got a shot of morphine once. Once.
I can see why opiates are addictive. Boy howdy.

6. I dunno...
I, too, had a shot of morphine once. The pain was gone quick, and for the first few seconds the relief was a godsend. Beyond those first few seconds, however, I recall absolutely nothing and 'came to' quite awhile later feeling very wooly and unfocused.

To relieve pain, sure, but to do so willingly sans ailment, well ... certainly something I wouldn't enjoy at all.

7. I had the same thoughts when I took it awhile back
Of everything, everything I've ever taken, it was my fave.

I hope I don't ever need it again, because man, was it nice.

10. That's what I've heard
Just that feeling of pure warmth and safety...and the sleep of angels.

Remind me never EVER to try heroin.

Cocaine was addictive enough (powdered confidence anyone?)

11. I've had the dubious pleasure of having to kick both
Cocaine was tough - very psychological addiction. But the physical addiction of heroin damn near killed me when I kicked. Yeah, be afraid. Be very afraid.

22. wow yeah
i was on it a few months ago for my wisdom teeth pain. it was very relaxing, i was almost addicted. same for percocet, the doctor put me on that after i had the wisdom teeth removed (actually it was 7 teeth altogether) - now that was even harder to come off of, my first night without it i couldn't sleep, i was so anxious, i can't even describe the feeling i had coming off it. i was so restless, i was moving around and had to keep kicking the bed and waving my arms around. i hope i never have to be on it again, as nice as it is being on these things they sure do suck coming off them!

23. Oh yes
My father is very careful with that stuff. He saves it only for when he is in extreme pain. He takes about one pill a month on the average.

I remember I lived next door to two girls who used to pop these things for fun.
