Desperate Housewive's gay non-kiss has some peeps upset!
http://forums.go.com/abc/primetime/desperatehousewives/forum?start=0&forumID=22

It's your typical ..... "oh I have gay friends" or the "my husband had to leave the room when it happened .... but he's NOT homophobic".

What happened is this. There is a gay character on "Desperate Housewives" and he, like everyone on the show is a nut job. He's mom is a raving clean freak and her boyfriend (whom she dated after her husband died) was the one that killed her late husband.

Gay son is turning in to a evil brat, plotting his revenge against his mom. (who also told him he's going to hell for being gay)

What has these "oh I'm not a gay basher, but I wish they wouldn't 'rub it in my face'" types was the past show.

The son and his BF are sitting on his bed playing video games and the son leans in and you think he's gonna kiss him but he doesn't.

WELL, you would thought he whipped out his pecker and slapped the other guy in the face with it!!!

1. Goes to show 2 things:
1) What they don't show can be sexier than what they do show.

2) People who filled in all the blanks in #1 mentally are closet cases.

6. It is widely known that affairs with high school boys do not threaten
the institution of marriage - unless of course they are the same sex :sarcasm:

7. I wish I could say I'm shocked--
sadly I'm not.

It's never ceases to amaze me how many ways some people can find to legitamize being hateful.

One of my personal all time faves is 'they can be gay as long as they don't try to make me be that way too.'

:wtf:

Yeah, homosexuality is a cult, and they're all constantly recruiting more members for their big gay army.

:sarcasm:

8. I desperately want to see Brokeback Mountain,
but will almost certainly wait to see it on DVD, because I don't want to deal with half-witted fuckheads. There was a trailer for it at another movie we went to see, and some lamebrains in the audience kept giggling nervously, like, "look, see, I'm making fun of this, it's not intriguing me or turning me on or anything, because I'm NOT GAY, so STOP SAYING THAT!" As if anyone gave a shit whether or not they're the biggest nelly queen in the universe - it's a public theatre, you dolts, no one here came to have sex with you or not have sex with you - nothing here is ABOUT YOU. Get OVER your dumbass selves!

11. My best friend called me as soon as she saw the
first trailer for Brokeback Mountain---we're definitely going to go see it in theaters.

What's better than a movie with a hot cowboy? TWO hot cowboys, you say? Two hot cowboys IN LOVE?!

I'm there.

:)

I know what you mean about ignorant morans in the audience, though. I went to see some movie a long time ago that had a guy-guy kiss in it, and these obnoxious middle aged guys in the audience started having a huge fit about it. My friends and I (I think we had just started high school at the time) turned around and gave them the nastiest looks. At least their wives had the decency to look embarrassed.

We'll probably see Brokeback Mountain at the Neptune or one of the other independent theaters in Seattle where we're less likely to have to deal with crap like that.

13. I know, I was hoping to see it somewhere on Capitol Hill
I would think the 'morans' would have the sense to keep quiet THERE! They'd be definitely outnumbered.

I mean, come on, what kind of idiot would kick either of those guys out of bed?!

oh, and :hi: neighbor!

9. I saw the episode.
People are upset that Andrew ALMOST kissed his boyfriend? Folks, if you're gonna watch a show that has a gay character you might just see him getting close to his boyfriend. Geez, if they are that upset about a non-kiss, what are they going to do when he DOES kiss the guy?

Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 07:53 PM by Beaverhausen
Are they going to just let that whole thing go?

I really liked the show last year but this year sucks. What is up with how idiotic Susan is acting about wanting to be part of her biological father's life?

12. I think it started off slow this year, but it's been getting good lately.
I don't think the son's crime in hitting Mrs. Solis will just go away. It's been hibernating for a while, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes up again really soon, especially since he's going to start blackmailing his mother over George's death.

16. I like Susan.
She's a bit high strung, I think...but I guess I can understand why she wants to know her biological father. I've never been in that position, so I don't really know what it would be like to just meet my father at her age.

14. The ol' Double Standard.
Straight couples can practically have soft porn interludes on regular TV these days,

BUT

if gay people even give each other a closed mouth kiss, then it's a BIG DEAL and they are FLAUNTING their sexuality. Or even a non-kiss, almost-kiss.

Gimme a break.

And they had that part with the priest and the nuns. Now I'm not opposed to people having religion and all. I just wish they wouldn't rub it in my face like that!

20. It's the same thing as
what happened to the white, christian people last year when Nicolette dropped her towel in front of T.O.

<Cue sound effect> <Clevon Little from Blazing Saddles> "Scuse me while I whip dis out . . ."

And all the upstanding, god-fearing, Repiglican-voting wimmins wuz waiting for the good part, while their upstanding Religion Industry husbands wuz done up outta the lazy boy screamin' "Harlot! Whore of Babylon! Don't look, Ethel!" But, to quote Ray Stevens, "it was too late."

21. How utterly insane.
There was a gay kiss on Coronation Street (the leading British soap) a while ago, there was a minor fuss beforehand, the act itself lasted for all of 2 seconds and after that there was no real trouble.

I think that for some there is a fear of novelty, which I can understand, but it's hardly anything extreme and once it's happened folk should be able to get over it within a matter of minutes.
