Spent 7 hours waiting in the local Emergency Room yesterday...
just to get a refill on my pain pills because my doctor's nurse refused to call my doctor at home on "His day off".
I am so livid about this I cannot think straight, I don't yet know how I am going to address this with my doc.

2. Doesn't your doctor have someone who covers for him?
I couldn't begin to deal with that situation because of the meds I have to take, my husband, my FIL, it would be a full time job just trying to get things refilled.

Plus, just a thought, although too late, if it is a chronic medication, sometimes the pharmacy will give you enough to get by for a day or two.

4. Oh, I asked about that
I asked the nurse who is on-call for him when he is out.
She said "No one, he covers himself", that was when I said "Then call him!", she refused.

3. Time for a new doctor
If five minutes of his time is more important than seven hours of yours, I'd tell him to go fuck himself.

6. Thats terrible!!!
She as a nurse should be reprimanded. Their main concern is YOU as their patient - not if the doc is off. I have a couple of doctors who dont have an answering service or whatever and that scares me. What IF I needed help after hours and its not a big enough deal to go to the ER?

Find a new doc asap and make sure you let that doc know what she did. I bet he wont appreciate it - you can almost always tell how good a doctor is by his nurses and she sounds LOUSY.
