needing advice on repairing vs. dumping this laptop
The letter between the j and the l isn't functioning (it occurs several times in the name of my SO and her passwords and I will herein after refer to it as a lC, a somewhat challenging situation, particularly when trying to get to sites with that letter in their web-address.

Here is the question...do I buy a lCeyboard from a parts source and replace it or do I buy an entire new computer? This machine is about 2.5 years old, I loolCed and I can get a refurbished part for about $50.

I am sure some of you have opinions. Thanx

1. Sorry I don't have any advice.
But I've been wondering about finding a place to get parts for a laptop too so I could assemble one to my specs rather than pay an inflated price for a pre-assembled unit.

3. I found many sites via googling laptop parts.
Of course for me there was a manufacturer and model to help.

2. Depends..
What do you use it for? If its just surfing and basic stuff, then repair it. That's what I'd do.

5. Can you use an external keyboard?
Do you require portability? If not, I'd use an external keyboard.

8. Depending on what ports are available
You could probably use a usb or serial keyboard.

I think whether to repair or replace depends on the condition of the rest of the laptop. How's the battery? Any other issues? Worst thing would be to spend $50 now and then have another issue soon after.

7. I would say repair it.
The price isn't too much. If the laptop is still meeting your computing needs, fix it. If you need more power, upgrade to something more.
