E-Mail from MAILER-DAEMON I just received.

I have heard this is a scam.

Any input?

1. Need to see the headers
Some email systems will bounce back a message to the sender that they message sent contained a virus. Unfortunately most email systems are not smart enough to determine if you were the actual sender or if it came from someone else that was infected and the message went out with your name on it.
I would just delete it and scan my system. Use this if you don't have an antivirus application installed

3. I also have Norton.
I also have McAfee on another of my computers.

I do pick up viruses visiting sites on the web but it's always taken care of by my programs which I do keep up-dated.

6. My Norton
runs automatic. Syntec runs frequently also. (I think it is syntec)

7. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.
I'm having a few problems with the new Norton 2006.

My old Dell laptop isn't working with the security and/or personal firewall in place so I have those feature turned off. My old Norton program couldn't be updated. However I do have the anti-virus on. It is working without taking over my mouse.

I may need to go to McAfee for the laptop.

4. Mailer Deamon is just the mail server
that originated the message. If it's the scam, the deamon and the person to whom it belongs probably doesn't know it.

Did you try to send an email and get a bounce back because it was undeliverable?

5. No I did not
That is part of the reason for my question.

It does not mention returned mail. I sent it to trash. Few minutes later I got it a second time.

Thanks
