1. You sure the ribs won't contribute to the gout?

5. My husband gets it all the time
and his big triggers are beer, wine and shellfish. He's found if he guzzles a whole lot of water it helps. Water until it hurts!

gout attack?

8. I've been damn nearly crippled for the last couple of weeks....
Can't figure out what is triggering the attacks, but they keep coming. I REALLY need to lose some weight, but can barely walk. Gout sucks.

13. no, she wants me to control it by losing weight and changing...
...my diet, plus she doesn't want to put me on another maintainence med if we can avoid it. I'm all for that, and the allopurinol wouldn't do any good while I'm actually having attacks anyway. I'm taking indocin and vicodin to manage the inflammation and pain, and they DO help-- I shutter to think how bad life would be without them at the moment.

15. mike just remember with gout it's all moderation in diet
Lawdy knows i can drop a few inches in the waist line but theres no reason to have one day of turkey sandwhiches salads and juice followed by a treat day. The best thing i ever did was go on diet coke, yeah i know some people say its no better than the real soda but the sugar factor alone is much better for you.
Seriously two or three days of eatting healthy is alot better than bed rest i speak from expierince and i hope am not being condecending. PM me if you need gout tips. Keep the foot elevated and try to do some circulation exercises and soak that toe as often as you can stand it. Hang in there buddy gouts a mother. I am pulling for you.

12. My Gout experiences
have been brought on by drinking on hiking/camping trips, which dehydrated me, and thus increased the proportion of uric acid crystals in my bloodstream.

I've had three bouts with it, it is a horrible thing to have. The second time I developed it, I was put on steriods for a month. I gained about 25 pounds....

but, I love shrimp, too. Ate some tandoori shrimp while watching the waves come in on Trivandrum Beach in Kerala, India off the Arabian Sea. I'll never forget that.
