Please explain why I have these horrible visions
Everytime I use something sharp whether it's a knife or my cusinart - right before I use it I get a vision of my fingers being chopped off and massive blood spewing everywhere. Now mind you, I've never done anything so clumsy but it never fails that when I pick up a knife or grind with the cusinart (hell even with my juicer) I get a flash of horrible visions.

4. It's a strangely uncommon condition known as -
Millius Vinillius -

Baby, don't be shy when you're holding my hand
'cause as time goes by you've got to understand it's you.
And it's with you.
B- b- b- baby, in your eyes I see you so clearly
that I love you so strong and you never go wrong.
I got the best for you.
So when you're in doubt and needin' someone,
baby, call my line, call me anytime.
I'll be there for you.
I've been searching high.
I've been searching low.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baby,
don't forget my number.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baby,
love is stronger than thunder.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baby,
don't forget my number.
Love will see you through.
I've been searching high.
I've been searching low.
Wanna spend my life with you.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba.
Ba ba ba ba ba and I dance with you.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba.
Ba ba ba ba ba love will see you through.
Ba ba ba ba ba love will see you through.
Baby, call my line b-baby call my line.
Call me any time, call me any time,
baby. Don't forget my number.
Love will see you through.

5. That's one of the symptoms of OCD.
You can't stop yourself from having visions of things like this. Also, people with vertigo who are afraid of heights have the same thing with regard to falling and hitting the ground. I may want to look this up; I don't want to give you any bad information; I heard it was a symptom of either OCD or Tourette's.

13. It's OCD
From my limited understanding, a person with OCD has these intrusive thoughts which cause severe anxiety, which is only relieved by the ocd ritual.

I have similar visions of my kids hurting themselves.

7. Warning!! Too much SNL can do this to you!
http://www.goodeatsfanpage.com/Humor/SNL/FrenchChef.htm

<snip>
Now, where was I? (looks around the kitchen) Oh, yes. Anyway, it's time to bone the chicken. Now, for this, you need a very sharp knife. You can't do anything without a sharp knife! (holds chicken and cuts) Now, you place the chicken on its stomach, and cut along the backbone to the pug nose like so ... (drops knife) CRAP! Oh! Oh, now I've done it - I've cut the dickens out of my finger. Well, I'm glad, in a way, this has happened ... (blood squirts onto the chicken) We have never really discussed what to do.
First, we must stop the bleeding. (holds her apron over her hand) The best way is to put pressure on the apron, like so ... (blood keeps sqirting all over the kitchen) Now, you want to raise your hand above your head so the blood doesn't pump all the way up. (blood continues to squirt) Well, the apron doesn't seem to be working, so I recommend natural coagulants, such as chicken liver ... (picks up the chicken liver) Remember not to throw away the liver! (blood squirts over the chicken liver) Oh, God, it's throbbing! Well, a tourniquet can be made, using a chicken bone ... (wraps towel and chicken bone around her hand) Find a pressure point between the heart and the wound - in this case, the wrist - and cut off the blood. This is a last resort, however, because you could lose your hand if you tighten it too much! (blood keeps squirting) If you're too woozy to tie the tourniquet, you might call Emergency Help - there's not much time left ...

11. Maybe you are thankful for your fingers and
subconciously want to protect them? I'm not sure. I have actually sliced the ends of my fingers bad enough to hurt them, but that was back when I was a teenager and my mother spent hours dulling down any knives brought in the house. Now that she can't get to my knives, I haven't had that problem. I keep them sharp enough too. A dull knife will actually cause you to cut yourself and hurt yourself more than a sharp one because they are more likely to slip. That's actually true, believe it or not. Just keep being careful and maybe you will never actually get hurt. :D

12. I do that, too, with certain things.
I think it's just imagining the worst that could happen. At least you're not imagining stabbing somebody with the knife!
