I am a DU Ninja.

I slip into the background, almost invisible. When I pop up and strike/post, I kill threads dead. That or my actions go unnoticed.

I've turned what used to somewhat bother me into a fun little game, see how many posts I can make and get away without responses.

Thus I challenge all other DU Ninjas:

Show your skill, make posts and get no replies.

Be the background.

They have to be valid, on topic, but the goal is to NOT be part of the conversation.

1 point for the "Invisible" post - Be ignored and get no responses.

5 points for the "Killing Stroke" - You must kill a thread. It has to be posted within 2 hours of the last one.

10 points for the "Ruthless Kill" - Killing your own creation (you have to be OP). You kill your OWN thread.


In this way you will become skilled. Grade yourself on an "Honor" system.

Or you can just use this "game" to comfort yourself when you feel like no one notices you. Consider this someone else who is "invisible" trying to comfort others like him out there.

I like that, the Chevy Chase comparison is funny, I use the nin comparison b/c of the stealth. I often post in threads that are already started, and get no responses. I just tend to blend into the background. It was a tossup betw chameleon and ninja. Being the last poster in a thread and effectively killing it was the clincher that made me choose ninja.

However, I will not link to my thread about Halley's birthday which had, I believe, three posts. My OP and two kicks.

The trick is to respond not to the OP but to one of the follow-up posts. The OP will have too many responses, unless they are me, to answer them all, unless they are CaliforniaPeggy. Follow-up posters, however, will check their "my posts" and see a reply, read it, and often reply. Especially if you ask a question. Logical, isn't it? :o Smileys help too.

I'm actually enjoying my little game, if only b/c I'm now TRYING to be invisible, or get my own thread-kill points. You have to get the last post, and now people are making it difficult >.<

I suspect that if you were trying to get your own threads killed, rather than bringing attention to it, people would be rushing to upset you. It's ironic, and you win either way :party:
