Anybody know how to rid their computer of "Winfixer"?

Is there a way to do it that an average person can understand? I have no idea of how it got on and it keeps popping up with ads that I can not stop.

1. Try this

First reboot into safe mode with networking support. To do that reboot and press F8 while your machine is starting. You will be shown startup options. In safe mode a lot of programs won't load at startup and will be easier to get rid of.
Go to download.com and install Ad-Aware and Spybot's Search and Destroy. Make sure when you first run them you get the latest updates. Use the immunize option in Search and Destroy to block downloads in the future. Also you can install Googles search bar for IE and have it block popups. Last thing is go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and have it search for viruses. After all of that you machine should be clean.
