Navy Wife Carries Mannequin With Her In Place Of Husband
<snip>

KINGSLAND, GA -- Suzy Walker loves to share a meal with her husband, despite getting some strange looks.

"I think if they knew what I was doing they would probably enjoy it," said Walker.

Walker says she stands by her man because he's a doll. Literally. She has a mannequin that eerily resembles her husband, a sailor on the USS West Virginia.

"When I put the mustache on him, I couldn't believe the resemblance," said Walker. "It's incredible."

It's the newlywed's first separation, and Walker was looking for a way to get through the alone time.

"I was surfing EBay and I saw a sailor for sale," said Walker. "One day he was used for a photo shoot in Washington, and I was the high bidder."

Walker bought her stand-in man for $200 and she takes him everywhere.

He's been to the movie theater, Victoria's Secret, and the gas station to buy lottery tickets.

The couple attracts lots of attention.

"It helps me pass the time while he's gone," said Walker. "And knowing that I'm making him a photo album so he really will know where I've been, gives me a good feeling."

The mannequin weighs about 40 pounds.

Her husband, DB Walker, had no idea at first, but word quickly spread to the submarine, and he thinks it's hilarious.

No word yet on when DB Walker will return home to Kingsland.

6. Shit, when a Marine Battalion went on float, THAT NIGHT if you stood
in front of the eClub doors and looked up into the hills, it looks like the end of Field of Dreams. Cars coming from miles to party with the young guys ( typically guys in further training who would eventually be shipped off elsewhere ) who were around.

retrofitted it.

I wonder if she'll want the real husband back.

5. I distinctly remember a media flame war a few weeks back...
When it was men owning hyper realistic female dolls.

9. Well, there is a difference.
Carrying a doll of whatever size is one thing, but rejecting all of humanity and asserting misogynistic justifications (women are evil) - while having sex with the doll - is entirely different.

In my opinion, this is a silly woman who misses her husband and carries a life-size representation of him. (Very silly, but harmless and without meaning anything about men or women).

The other situation is an industry encouraging the commodification of women, men that use robots/ mannequins/ etc not as sex toys or as dolls - but as symbols of their hatred of women. I think the issue there wasn't that people cared so much about the sex or the doll aspect or whether some shy guy had one, but the reasonings that a lot of the doll lovers used.

11. The industry doesn't need a doll to accomplish commodification...
There's plenty of it through merchandising, media, and religion.

10. Hee hee...
"One day he was used for a photo shoot in Washington, and I was the high bidder."

One wonders what photo shoot (or photo-op) he was used for...
