Shiny Happy Thread

Hi everybody, I'm baaaack!! I've been rather caught up lately and haven't checked into my DU community for a while now. Here's why:

We just celebrated my sweet husband's 50th birthday this weekend with an outrageous kaoroke-themed party for 150 people. We rented a local community center, had it catered and hired a great DJ. We invited people to either come with a song, pick a kaoroke song at the party and/or to wear a crazy hat. It was a HUGE success and everybody had a great time.

We love to sing and we're both in a choir, so having a singing themed party was perfect. My hubby even wrote a great, heartful song about turning 50 and even accompanied himself on electric guitar while he sang. I sang back-up harmonies and our 12 yr old son played backup drums, while our 9 yr old daughter played the clave. We were like the damn Partridge Family and afterwards, we even got a standing ovation! It was very moving and I just feel so blessed to be surrounded by such a loving community of friends. :grouphug:

It was an awesome party. Definitely the biggest one we've EVER thrown. Now I'm just decompressing and catching up on laundry. heheh. :thumbsup:

I am happy about my life, my friends (here and IRL), my personal environment, and the fact that I got my Christmas gift today and am playing with it! :woohoo:

Your husband's party sounds like it was just magnificent.....

Turning fifty years old is something to celebrate indeed, IMHO.....

So.....what am I happy about today? I got to talk to a very dear friend today.....someone I don't get to talk to very often.....it was fantastic!

And in general, I am happy about my family life, and especially my life here on DU, in the Lounge with my dear friends!

There are other things, but these are the BIGGIES!

I'm happy that my daughter's finished her first quarter in college and she's hopelessly in love for the first time in her life. I just say his name and she gets this silly grin on her face and blushes. :blush:

No, it really doesn't take much to entertain me!
