Ugh, I'm depressed....

I want to help a shelter by fostering their pets, but of course my mother won't do it, because she only and ONLY wants, in her words, "A cute, small, jumping puppy" (never mind the fact that knowing her, she'll bring it back after two days because it wouldn't be quiet).

Never mind that the other, non-cute animals are the ones that nobody wants and they're euthanized.
All for not being "cute" (whatever the hell that means).

I found some solstice in knowing that when I got older, I would adopt pets unlikely to be adopted otherwise. Believe it or not, instead of taking animals to the pound, I let them live free in the woods behind where I live. And all three of my great cats were adopted because they needed special medical care in some way that no one else would want to deal with. I love my babies. I don't think anyone else would be able to take care of them right.

When you get older and have a place of your own, you will be able to make it a point to go get an older pet to satisfy your soul's craving to help. I admire your sincerity and your passion. Please don't ever lose it. :hug:
