Have you ever taken out your own stitches?
Did you regret it, or was it no big deal?

3. When I had surgery, they used staples on me.
And there was no way in HELL I was removing those bad boys, although the did come out rather painlessly.

4. I took out my friend's stitches last summer.
There were only 5 or 6 and they were on her chin. It was easy and painless.

5. My dad took out his. He thought it was
stupid to go back to the doc and pay him to do it when he felt he could do it himself. He had no problems with it. But I personally would let the doc do it!!

11. cool staple remover!
I just figure, if I waited 5 hours in the emergency room to get them put in, how long will they make me wait to take them out! Seems like it's no big deal.

:hi:

9. No. Except for the ones in my mouth that disintegrated
after my wisdom teeth extraction. I had 5 stitches in my index finger earlier this year, and the doctor took them out. It pinched just a bit.

13. My roommmate's girlfriend cut out the 9 stitches on my finger
But she was exactly two weeks from graduating with her M.D. and had the little suture scissors and everything in her emergency bag. I would've cut them out myself otherwise!

14. Yep, did that.
Paid $350 to get 7 stitches in my thumb.
Phoned the hospital and inquired about the cost to remove them, they quoted $125. I argued them down to $75, decided it was still too much and ended up taking them out myself.

Hurt alot. I think I took them out too early. I would suggest wating til you are sure they are ready to come out.

22. Huh. And we vets still remove sutures for free
Next time someone complains about my prices, maybe I'll use that as an example of how much it could really cost. I also like to make sure that the wound/incision is completely healed and sometimes I'll have the owner come back several times to remove the sutures incrementally if there is delayed healing.

15. Yes...
I did. Four stitches in my thumb, with a pair of scissors and tweezers. It didn't hurt at all, and I'm pretty squeamish when it comes to things like that.

16. Take them out?!?! My Mom stitched me up several times.
You see... When I was a youngster there weren't many ERs around where we lived.

So, when I cut myself she'd whip out her sewing kit and sew it shut. If she deemed
the cut warranted it.

I'm afraid to tell people when I injure myself to this day!

:scared:

and just snip and remove. Sometimes it feels a little funny but it doesn't hurt. I took some out of the lip after minor reconstructive plasatic surgery.

I leapt off a rock-face and fell 300 yards into a tree, and had to put my own stitches in.

26. I slammed a car door on my own finger 3 days before going to Africa
and my boyfriend laughed uproariously while peeling my finger out of the door.

Thats the real story.

So when it looked about the right time I was in Nairobi and found a missionary doctor to take a look at it before I cut the stitches with manicure scissors and pulled them out.
