i have a job interview today!

i need to get in that meditative state wherein i can lie with impunity, embellish with authority, and otherwise keep my red flags from being too visible.

i'm not sweating it though, it's a bottom feeder position and most manager and hr types are easily manipulated.

parts of my technique:

* maintain "glossy-direct" eye contact, not directly into their eyes, but look at their lips, or nose, or switch to direct eye contact intermittently (when doing the eye switch, "open" facial expressions, like feigned interest, raised eyebrows like you're surprised (the "wow i never knew that! you are so great i can't believe i'm talking to you" look). I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH how important this is. do not break this contact. use it good enough and you can actually make them uncomfortable in a way that doesn't affect the interview adversely.

* never "volunteer" information. listen more than you talk. brevity is the heart of concision is the soul of not tripping on your own words. speak "newscaster" non-dialect english with correct grammar, avoid colloquialisms. measure your statements and adhere to strict business tones.

* ask open-ended questions that require extensive elaboration on the part of the interviewer. even if you don't know anything specific about the company, use common sense and deduce something from the environment, the receptionist, the annual report in the waiting room.

* phrases like "bottom line," "adding value," "skill set," etc. are still the coin of the realm. act like a powerpoint presentation. sneak in some traces of humanity though, but don't let your personality out too much.

anybody have any other pointers/techniques they use?
