3. They do televisionwise.
When the WB offers such Christmas delights as the "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" animated special, not to mention a "Scooby-Doo Christmas" special.

And being around people shopping isn't a barrel of laughs, either.

14. Yes. My side of the family is crazier than ever.
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 12:26 PM by CottonBear
My mother and sister have mounted (behind my back) a campaign of hate and accusation against my husband. We are dumbfounded. My mother is normally very polite but I am afrais that she is an upper-middle class snob. We may not go to visit them for Christmas. It would simply be too uncomfortable and I might be tempted to strangle my sister (who still lives at home at age 40, has never married, gotten a college degree or voted.)

15. Yes.
My two decades in retail have led me to this conclusion as well.

I'm actually not feeling as hate-filled toward humanity this year, which must be because I'm very happy and am looking forward to Neil's visit on Dec. 27. :)

16. The holidays tend to bring out EXTREMES
Often the worst -- I haven't really been out there amidst it, but I know how it gets -- but sometimes the best.

It's unchecked, rampant, insane levels of consumerism that's the key to most bad behavior at this time of year, I think, even away from a direct shopping context.

17. I think it brings out the best in our friends
Nothing more wonderful than sitting around at someone's house, fire going, friends all around, (noticing ornaments you painted for them hung on their tree), exchanging gifts like homemade cookies, books, handmade jewelry, etc.

Family has all the emotional baggage (can you believe Michael was so cheap this year? Charlie spent so much on presents for Mom and Dad, I wonder what he's after?)

Friends make you remember why holidays can be fun.
