1. She's missed
It's not Christmas without her music playing.

6. I love her voice

Superstar

Long ago and oh so far away

I fell in love with you before the second show

Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear

But you’re not really here

It’s just the radio

(*) don’t you remember you told me you loved me baby

You said you’d be coming back this way again baby

Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you I really do

Loneliness is a such a sad affair

And I can hardly wait to be with you again

What to say to make you come again

Come back to me again

And play your sad guitar

8. You cannot learn how to sing like she did -
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 12:03 PM by MN ChimpH8R
you either can or cannot. One of the most purely beautiful voices in popular music. Too bad that she was saddled with a control freak - and just plain freak, he married a cousin - of a brother (who would have been nothing without her) and parents who always put her down and favored Richard. Sad business and she is much missed.

IMHO, she was a mighty fine looking woman in her pre bulimia/anorexia days in addition to being a singlar talent:

10. darker than dark...
Her lyrics, music...all that stuff reveals a darkness that goths can't even hold a votive candle to...

13. Yep
She had an amazing voice, and her death was and is a sad loss.

But I do find it a profoundly depressing thing to listen to a greatest-hits CD because there are so many songs they did that'll push you to the verge if you're contemplating suicide. Great songs, but hard to take 'em all back to back like that.

Not my bag though.

"Logs on the fire, fill me with desire" is NOT a good christmas song line.

15. No, that's not the lyrics
"fill me with desire, to see you and to say that I wish you Merry Christmas..."

18. The reason that compilation "If I Were A Carpenter" sucked so hard
It wasn't the songs that were so great, or the frequently gooey arrangements; it was her voice--achingly sad, with some very dark edges around it. If they were smart, they should've tried to release some of her unreleased tracks (if there were any) with Daniel Lanois or Trent Reznor producing them, giving her an industrial or barren sonic landscape worthy of her. (Of all people, Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth gave a dead-on analysis in that VH1 "100 Women of Rock" special: her voice was too big and too dark and too emotionally honest for the songs and paradigms that she was forced into--by Richard, by society, by whatever.)

But still, her artistry endures.
