The new brake booster is here! The new brake booster is here!
Ms. OR is shown here modeling the season's latest rebuild brake booster. With this, Veg Truck will once again scoot about the freewayws of LA, blowing burned veg oil exhaust into the faces of angry, SUV-indebted repukes. JOOOOOOOOYYYY!

Can you identify the end table?

1. I assume that means you've gone biodiesel.
How's that working out?

2. You assume wrong, oh Stone of Red.
I have taken the other path, that of straight veg.

Biodiesel is where you take veg oil and treat it to replace the glycerine with alcohol, which allows it to be burned in any diesel engine. Straight veg is where yo do not threat the oil, but rather heat it up so it thins out and runs like diesel, then burn it.

Biodiesel: Lot's of equipment up front, but you can pump it into a diesel car or truck without modifying that car or truck.

Straight veg: No equipment up front (except filters, or filtrs and settling tanks for used veg oil), but you have to create a second fuel system in the vehicle to run the heated oil, and you start the car on regular diesel (or biodiesel) and you switch back to same before stopping the engine.

Here are some details of my conversion:

Free fuel? Works out OK.

4. I was not aware of the nuances, and thank you for the educational
information. I've learned something today, thanks to you, which makes it a succesful day.

I had long assumed that what you call "straight veg" was what I called "biodiesel." and now I know the correct terminology.

And free fuel? Yes, that's gotta work out OK, expecially given the fact that I bet you've had some fun doing the conversion.

Good on you. I appreciate innovative engineering, and I much more appreciate innovative engineering that is good for the environment.

5. Fun stuff, but not without risks.
I risked the conversion on an old engine. I did not take into account how the worn injectors were spurting longer than they should, and I eventually coked up the rings with carbon. I tore the engine down and cleaned it out, but that was a fun lesson. Anyway, I'll get some fresh injectors after New Years.

Well, it turns out I need to redo the rear brakes, so VegTruck will be parked until after the Holidays. :-(

3. Not sure I expressed the urgency of this situation.
Going is not a problem. It's the stopping I have been having trouble with.

No more rolling into the Pacific for me!
