Weird kitty behavior - should my friend be worried?
A friend of mine has a beautiful bengal cat, he's probably about 8 years old. Lately, she says, when he's started to yawn, he yawns more exaggeratedly and then starts licking the air, sticking his tongue way out and acting, she says, like he's got something stuck on his tongue. (I haven't seen this, she's just described it in an email). She's felt along his throat, shined a flashlight down there and can't feel/see anything, but is still worried. She's pretty stretched thin, financially, but will probably take him to the vet on Monday, but asked me to ask around and see if anyone had experienced behavior like this before or could make a guess as to what might be bothering the cat (who goes by the name "BooBoo").

There are two other cats in the house, and three birds, if that makes any difference. All cats are strictly indoor cats, so there isn't anything BooBoo could have gotten into outside.

Thanks for any input...

1. Did she check the teeth?
He may have a bad one.

2. I think so - she's checked his mouth and around his tongue,
and says his breath smells "normal" - I know a lot of mouth/throat problems can make kitty breath smell differently than it normally does.

3. It could be something in the middle ear.
Would be a good idea for vet to check.
