Student sells dead relative's morphine--to buy an iPod

Four female students at Green Mountain High School, including two cheerleaders and a member of the pom squad, were arrested and suspended Friday for possessing and selling morphine capsules at school. Two other students, both cheerleaders, also were suspended for their involvement in the case.

The four suspects, two 14 and two 15, were taken to the juvenile assessment center Friday then released to the custody of their parents. They could face charges of possession and distribution of a schedule II controlled substance.

Goings said a freshman girl, who was not a cheerleader or a pom squad member, said the capsules belonged to a grandmother who had passed away and she brought them to school Thursday to sell to other students. "She wanted to buy an iPod," said Goings.

"They were all good students," Goings said. "You hate to be suspicious of anyone, but they did something for the thrill of it. I really believe that the girls had no idea what morphine is or what it is used for. It was the thrill of taking something that they shouldn't."

:rofl: yeah, and I bet their boyfriends don't know what rohypnol is either. I bet neither of them know what methamphetamine is too.

If she had sold them to someone with a serious pain problem, it would have been okay, but really, morphine is not a good recreational drug.

Kids - It's called POT. It's natural, it will not kill you, and it's fun. Anything other than pot and booze in moderation, stay away from it!

And yes, I DID just encourage young people to smoke pot. I did it, and so did almost everybody I know, including my yuppie overachiever brother.

It is a teenage rite of passage, it is no big deal, and it's time we as a society admitted it.

But really, the drugs were going to waste - selling them was a good idea. She should have found someone in pain who actually needed them.
