Did you know that 1:00 and :60 on a microwave will
both cook the same amount of time? My aunt always picks on me for hitting 1:00 to cook something for a minute. I asked her what she did. She inputs :60 and it works the same exact way. I was amazed. I must be nuts. Am I the last to learn this?

11. No, I'm drug free,
unfortunately, except for an over the counter pain killer (tylenol generic version) for my aches and pains today. :hi:

2. It's not you
It's the appliance manufacturers who think we're so freakin' stupid that we can't figure out 1:00 or :60, so they put a "One Minute" button on microwaves.

:eyes:

12. I would think that 1:00
meant a minute and forty seconds though. I guess you are right. They ended up making a mistake in the process. What if someone puts out a product and tells you to cook it for a minute and forty seconds? What then? How do you get a microwave to cook something for that long exactly?

18. You're thinking in Base 10
In other words, logically. Minutes and seconds are Base 6.

Numbers. Who needs 'em? :puke:

19. Oh, I get it now.
It's the electronics making that happen. <slaps forehead> I took a digital electronics class. I should have alrady known that. Duh...

I hate algebra but I love the binary coded decimal system and binary math. You only have 1's and 0's to deal with. Makes things much simpler. Algebra causes me to start trying to read what is says. I guess my brain sees algebra as english and messes with my head.

20. Bingo
Which is why I never got algebra. Letters and numbers just should not mix. It's just... wrong. And probably anti-American.

What's that T-shirt about binary code? It's kinda along the lines of "There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count and those who can't."

sitting around after class and doing the binary counting labs more than once. When we made the timer, it was mind blowing for me. I don't know why electronics and electricity in general has always fascinated me so much, but to this day, it still does. I found myself just flipping the toggle switch over and over and restarting the counter once my lab partner and I got it to work.

Forgot to mention that I liked the three kinds of people joke.

Those who understand binary and those who don't.

28. Not exactly
If they were base six, you couldn't have 47 minutes.

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, ...

4. Mine's got a different kinda button for that
It says "Popcorn."

Just what I wanted — a microwave built by the same people who make fast-food cash registers. :eyes:

14. Using the popcorn button on ours will cause
smoke and burnt popcorn. It's true. We always have to stop it about 30 seconds early. I hate burnt popcorn, although I have eaten it before.

She ALWAYS looks like her head is about to explode. I don't see how that woman is still alive as angry is she is all the time.
