1. Depends on what kind of restaraunt
If you're saying this at TGIFridays or Chilis...dude....get a clue

But at a nice romantic rest, yes, we parents should stay out ;)

12. And what kind of noise....
Childish chatter is OK unless you're in a Hushed Temple of Fine Cuisine.

Screaming tantrums & kids running around, getting in the way of the service staff--NEVER OK!

16. Hey, I think kids should be able to behave in TGIFridays and Chilis too
Seriously!

Hell my dad wouldn't tolerate me throwing a hissy fit in McDonalds.

If your child is prone to throwing tantrums either hire a babysitter, order takeout or spend the next 18 years taking your kids to Chuckie Cheese

36. Gotta say, I disagree
Though it depends on what you define as a "hissy fit" or "throwing a tantrum". Family restaurants mean that families will be there. This means normal families, with kids who are not stepford children. Granted a kid throwing food and cursing would not be normal, but kids crying when they have to leave or running around to explore is normal. I'm in a childless marriage, and I have never understood adults who get pissed at children at places like Fridays or Applebees, that is where families with children belong. I get as annoyed as anyone else when I am at an expensive or romantic place with my wife, but at a family place, I expect families.

My parents let me be a kid at McDonald's, which included walking around ot meet other kids and asking dumb questions, clapping when I was happy and crying when I was sad. Even I was sad because my mom would not let me have another french fry, I was allowed to cry. Its hard to know what makes up a hissy fit, but when I see a kid crying even if it is something as stupid as not getting a fry, I don;t get pissed because that is what I think kids are entitled to do at family places.

Since when is it cool to have uncontrollable kids in public? If I had behaved that way, I'd be in a wheelchair by now.

20. Absolutely...
I work in a retail store. Nothing agitates me more than hearing a parent say to an unruly child "Sweetie, please, stop that...stop it...no...I don't want to have to ask you again...no...don't do that...stop...please, be good...don't do that again...I'm only going to say it one more time...if you keep doing that, I'm taking you home...stop it...please don't make me ask you again...". AAHHH!! Seriously, sometimes it goes on for a full 5 or 10 minutes! Drives me nuts.

15. There's a restaurant in Delaware that has a sign about kid behavior
Something to the nature that they have the right to ask you to leave if you can't control your kids.

The letters just started to hit our local paper all in favor of the restaurant. There are restaurants designed especially for families and small kids. If your child cannot behave you need to remove them from the main restaurant area and either take them to the car or restroom until they calm down again (or home if they refuse to).

It's not my problem if kids can't behave themselves so don't make me suffer through it.

My co-worker and I like the salads from Bennigans but they tend to get a bunch of kids in there even during lunch hours. Our solution - we always grab one of the tables by the bar since the bar tables are too high to accomadate kid seats. (Plus in Delaware bars are non-smoking so we don't have to deal with that either).

(seems you have extra)

47. Great LTTE in my local paper on this topic:
A little quiet, please

Regarding Bridget Ismert, who wrote saying that people didn’t take children to upscale restaurants: What planet is she from? Parents today take the little darlings everywhere, including restaurants that are clearly meant for people old enough to refrain from wailing if there’s no food on the table the moment they sit down.

You wouldn’t sit a 4- or 5-year-old down at the kitchen table at home 20 minutes before you put food in front of him. Why then would you take a child that young to a sit-down place? The Golden Arches were invented for children. Take them there, and let those of us who are spending good money for a night out have some peace and quiet.
