2. I think I stayed there, but I don't remember it. I was wasted and it was
years ago.

But you don't need my help to find something tacky there.

My brother, I am told, owns a club in Reno. I'm sure it's tacky and sleezy, but I'm afraid to find out more about it.

5. Oh but that's the point
This is descent into madness...Vegas is just another American city to get lost in, San Francisco is in my backyard and Los Angeles is the prozac of west coast cities...

Reno...now this is the city of true broken psyche. A city where you might as easily run into a fugitive wanted for murder as a grifter preacher who just ran out on his congregation with all the cash. This is a city of the derelict in all of us, the city that embodies "lost cause."

7. Sounds like a fun Hunter S. Thompson-esque road trip!
I've never been to Reno, only Vegas. Which was kinda like a sleazy Disney World. Reno is just plain sleazy

shaped like a pyramid, everyone asking employees for directions. The imperial palace next door is second for cheesy. cheesiest on the stirp. Cheesiest off strip: Boomtown

for old school, I don't know, maybe the sands?

for nicest, I like Mandaly Bay

9. Cheesy tacky establishments got torn down when corporations moved in
Riverboat casino, Harold's Reno, etc... You might look into Ormsby House Hotel in Carson City if you want old school.

The best game in town around Reno is John Ascuaga's Nugget even if it's in nearby Sparks.
