In all the hubub about "Merry Christmas" vs "Happy Holidays"
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 05:48 PM by Toots
"Season's Greetings" is getting left out in the cold. So Season's Greetings to everyone here and Happy Holidays and a Very Merry christmas...

1. ha! I just mentioned that one on another thread.
I'd always "the holidays" to be Christmas and New Year's, so "Happy Holidays" would cover them both.

In my mind, "Season's Greetings" was always the inclusive greeting.

3. Me, too
I have always written Season's Greetings rather than Happy Holidays. If I knew you were Xtian I said Merry Christmas. I never felt right saying Happy Hannukah because I don't celebrate it. So if I didn't know, I just said "Bye! See you later!"

Bye....see you later.

4. I grew up in Kansas of all places...
Seasons Greeting and Happy Holidays had equal standing with Merry Christmas back then.

But I have a question for the religious nuts... When I see or hear Merry Christmas, I think of the Coca Cola Santa Claus. But Merry christmas seems to be ok with the nuts. Why is that?

5. On my calender, in the last two weeks of December
There are 11 holidays listed - and I'm counting Hanukkah & Kwanzaa as one each.

Happy Holiday:S:

6. I'm the only liberal - yet still Christian - in my small office
I gave everyone gift certificates to a specialty butcher this year, and one each of them I wrote a different holiday greeting because they've been handing out cards that say, "Happy Holidays," but cross it out and handwrite "Merry Christmas."

Some of them were:

Festivus for the Rest
A Joyous Saturnalia
Merry Solstice
Happy Holiday Season which has since been ruined for me by dumbass media pundits turning it into some sort of religious/political football, but hey, you have a good time.
Happy Wednesday
