Question: Repairing a ring, Solder or Superglue?
Ok folks, i have a ring that i need to repair today...basically, the band separated from the other part, and i need to figure out before i do it, should i solder it back together, or should i go with some super-strong glue? It's metal to metal, but i have no idea what metal it is. Help! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

1. I would use epoxy
You know, the stuff that comes in two different tubes that need to be mixed together.

IMO, superglue never lasts that long and always fails at the least convenient time.

And I would stay away from solder unless you really know what you're doing.

3. Solder? I've read about them on FReeper "protest signs"
We need to support the solders, because they keep us safe and keep us free.

6. Have you ever used "silver solder"?
It requires a hotter torch and if there are any stones
nearby the heat can damage them.

If not, it's the way to go!

8. Definitely ask a jeweler

I had a very gold bracelet which broke, and the jeweler told me it couldn't be soldered without destroying it. So I superglued it! It worked out just fine.
