Dad, do you remember when I was a German Shepherd?
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 12:46 PM by oneighty
At the Baptist Church I have mentioned before there is a nativity scene unfolding. Our little girl has a part in it. She is a shepherd. She is positioned next to the white wicker basket containing the Baby Jesus. She is easing closer and closer to the Baby Jesus.

I can see what is coming. There she goes Baby Jesus is being held high in the air suspended there by our little girl's firm grip on his left leg.

The audience is highly amused.

I too am amused when some years later she asks me' "Dad do you remember when I was a German Shepherd?"

2. Baby Pat
our little girl was cute and curious.

Now she is a woman with adult children.

She still smiles about the 'German Shepherd'part.

She also was/is a DUer but will not tell me WHO. (I must be careful)

3. Good memories.
I've been hauling mine out today, too.
I think I've got a family member or two here also. It does put a little bit of a crimp on postings. :)

Merry Christmas to you Lars39.

Nobody here today just my wife and me. Baby Pat is working and attending nursing school-very very busy. She and her family will not be here until Monday (They live about three blocks away).

Our son is picking up pieces of a broken marriage and is in terminal BAH HUMBUG mode. I do not blame him.

Your handle leads me to ask? "Are you having lutefisk?"

7. hehe, no lutefisk for me.
My username was just a high school nickname. :)
Sorry to hear about your son. Can't blame him either.
Nursing school is tough as a single person, hat's off to Baby Pat for her ambition/dream.

12. Great story. Thanks. Think I'll haul out some old cassettes of Havocpup
at about 2-3. We recorded her musings while looking at the Christmas decorations. She insisted that Baby Jesus was in danger! Finally figured that one out: Manger, she didn't know what 'manger' meant, but any little baby sleeping out in the half open like that... well, 'danger' she has some grasp of.

To all you parents of wee people. Get the voices. Get the expressions. They are tiny for such a short time... and voice recordings make for great quiet moments of reflection.

We made our tapes to send to a brother who was far away that year. HE presented me with them some years back, when my daughter was about 18 or 20. They were the best gift I ever got from him. She is in her 30s now and still argues that the squeaky voiced kid on the tape is not her ;). My heart knows better.

Havocpup, if you're reading DU today, I love you more now than ever! Merry Merry, Sweetie.
