Because of gift cards, January can be more important than December...
Saw this in a news article whining about how bad December 24th sales were:

Retailers record revenue from gift cards only when they are redeemed, not when they are sold, so January has become a more important sales month in recent years.

Not before?! So that $20 I spent didn't count? What if the person I gave it to already spent it? Does that not count either? :crazy: Talk about screwed up statistics, unemployment is down too (because they cherrypick figures too!)
