1. Looks like another full-throttle, no-holds-barred New Year's Eve for us:
I'll boil some chicken for The Wiley and Excellent Cat Named Ginger, program some nice music on the CD player, and then Call Me Wesley and I will pop open this bottle of Moët & Chandon. I'm not sure how we maintain this grueling New Year's Eve social agenda, year in and year out.

5. Well, Ginger certainly is looking forward to it!

Truly, there's nothing more enjoyable for us than a quiet evening at home, with some nice music, Ginger indoors (and not out stalking the neighbor's cat :eyes: ), fire in the fireplace, and the house filled with the warm, flesh-like aroma of boiled chicken breast.

He's the wine and spirits connoisseur in our home. (I'm not sure where he's hidden it.)

3. We stay the heck home......
Going out is for crazy young people...

We may be crazy, but we are no longer young.....

We don't even always stay up till midnight any more....

Anyhow, it's more fun to kiss in bed, if you get my drift.......

10. :D
Well...actually...

I kinda want to see it. From an anthropological standpoint, because I've always hated crowds (and especially drunken ones). But I think I'll skip it this year -- I'll be working eitehr side of it, and that will be crazy enough. :-)

16. I agree with you ~ I don't drink and drive!
I'll be driving home on New Years Day.
Hopefully everyone else will be home sleeping it off and my trip will be uneventful!

I usually stay home for the holidays. Too many drivers are distracted by where they're going or where they've been. Auto pilot at 65 mph can be tricky.

17. Dream of the time when I don't have to do it anymore
Which is coming sooner than I originally anticipated. I'll be moving in a few months, after which I intend to have only one job. At most I hope to have a job and a half, or work some overtime here and there. I certainly don't plan on two full-time jobs, and will avoid the graveyard shift like the plague.

20. I plan on being right here on DU. I intend to
enjoy every last minute of the time I have off from college. DU is the place. The Lounge, specifically. I'll probably be good and drunk and up to me ears in old punk cd's. I started lining up some of my favorites next to the computer tonight. Will continue to do so whilst possibly working on finishing my little shed out back.

As the night progresses, I'll get drunk enough to eventually post "Slam!" in the Lounge as an actual thread for punk fans to paaaaahhhhtttteeee! ALL Loungers will be welcome. I will just be delving into my music collection (what is not still in storage) as usual.

Oh well. My uncle lives down there. My dad's side of the family decided that Shreveport would be just THE PERFECT PLACE (:eyes:) for a little end-of-the-year reunion. So I leave Wednesday and don't get back until late on January 2nd.

38. Maybe pop over to the Anvil for some Maker's Marks on the rocks.
The Anvil is the delightful (well, maybe not "delightful". But it's a fun place) gay watering hole down the street from me. The bars on North Halsted (where most of the gay bars in Chicago are located) will be crowded/and will charge ridiculously high cover charges. The Anvil won't charge a cover charge.

I feel like going out for a little bit this year. I usually stay home.

It was fun to go out and get smashed when I was in college but now we just stay home, eat lobster, drink champagne and go to bed early.

The last time I actually stayed up till midnight was 2000.

47. Staying home
and avoiding crowds like crazy. Probably in bed before midnight--last year, I was in bed at 11:45 just to be in bed before midnight.

Sorry--as I get older, I tend to regard New Year's Eve as a very private night. For me, it's a time to think about the past and the future, and to look inward. I'm not much fun to others that night, but it is definitely a time to count whatever blessings I currently have.
