26

I'm gonna fake punch him in the nutsack as soon as he drags his ass outta bed.

Around noontime, I suspect.

5. A 26 isn't bad. I believe the top score is 36. (nt)

8. The top score is 30. 20 is average (50%)
26 is around 88%.

His GPA does not even come close to reflecting that.

11. I went looking - top is 36.
http://www.actstudent.org/scores/norms1.html

26 is listed as 86%ile (on average - probably different for each test year)

15. Odd. The chart for 'College Admissions Policies'....
Only goes to 30. I guess if your a 31-36 you must be able to just walk in wherever you want.

16. That's Right
It always has been. I was one of the brainiacs in high school and there was a pool for those who got a 36.

31. I got a 27, and my GPA was < 3.00
I was a serial underachiever in high school, mainly because I was bored and unchallenged and didn't like to be babysat. However, when I got to college I carried a 3.5 my last two years (after I got partying out of my system my first two).

Don't give up hope! He'll come around. Especially after a couple of suprise boots to the nutsack.

He's not as stupid as he would lead everyone to believe. Apparently. Which is why I should go ahead and punch him in the nutsack just the same.

9. Oh, okay - I thought you were disappointed at the score.
Maybe he just hasn't been challenged enough in school. That was my problem - always in the 99 percentil on the standardized tests, but lots of Bs in the schoolwork cuz it just wasn't interesting and came too slow.

14. I can relate with him
My Asvab scores where polar opposites of my "grades". The school never pushed him, the classes were boring as all get out, the teachers were often morons.

18. Mine too.
High school bored me to tears. I didn't make good grades until I was an upper division student in my major.

My ASVAB scores were really high too. I had to beat recruiters off with a stick. :eyes:

20. I got yelled at for reading while taking my ASVAB
I brought a book with me, and was reading it when I finished each section, and the recruiter yelled at me when he finally noticed it.

So then I had to just sit there silently doing nothing the rest of the test, the parts of which I tended to finish pretty quickly, wondering at the kind of people who take that test and find it challenging.

21. I held the regional record
And my HS grades were typically D across the board, with enough Cs to balance out the Fs

I think they graduated me just to cut down on the repair bills and security upgrade costs.

10. My bro got a 35
So my 32 wasn't met with much fanfare. I became an instant Holdingford celebrity first because I signed up to take the test so late I got transferred to their testing session (45 miles away) and second I dozed off during the math portion. Some kind soul poked me with a pen--I wasn't out for more than a minute or two.

:dunce:

But since my grades were mediocre it didn't really impact my financial aid or collegiate options that much. And it's always retake-able, though I never bothered. I took great pride though in beating some of the snobbish kids who actually bought books and -studied- for it. It doesn't matter much.

I can take a test (kicked my brother's ass in the SAT), but as I pointed out in another thread I can barely keep my milk from expiring. I'm the collegiate exam Rainman.

32; yeah; definitely 32.

Let me guess-he was bored and unchallenged by high school staring out the window thinking about what those people free to drive around during the day in their cars were doing where they were going....

Oh sorry had a bit of a flashback there.

Good for him.

If he scores lower than a 26, I give up. :hi:

had the worst grades of all my friends, but did better than all of them on the ACT (after not studying for it, and being up half the night, screwing around.)

Not a bad score, really.

A lot of underachievers are really quite smart. You know, college might make all the difference; it did for me.

38. Funny that.
He never bothered to read what the results meant and thought he had done poorly. I had to point it out to him that he in fact had done very well. He claimed that since all his friends had gotten higher than a 26, he just assumed his score was substandard.

I had to remind him that his friends' claims were just that......claims.

But sure. We let him know that we're very proud. I'm just goofin'.

35. Why is he taking the ACT rather than the SAT?
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 04:00 PM by CarpeDiebold
SAT is easier, IMO. Does he want to go to a school that requires ACT?
I ask becuase I made a 1510 on the SAT but made a 30 on the ACT...I don't think it's the same score. I thought SAT was basically cake compared to ACT...

*oops* meant to say, congratulations to your son! lol let us know how the fake nuthit goes :D

However I had a hangover for the SAT...

I needed ACT for midwestern colleges, SAT for my scholarship. The scholarship was need based so I knew I had it in the bag.
