Describe something hanging on your walls.
I have a 1956 National Geographic map of Virginia hanging on the wall in the hallway. It is called "Round About the Nation's Capital" and has all the old county names in Virginia before some of them were incorporated into "independent cities".

2. I have a peacock.
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 02:24 AM by madeline_con
It's a 3-D thing, the head sticks out from an otherwis relatively flat filigree type thing of tail feathers. It's plastic, but it looks like metal because of the colors.

6. I have an Indian tapestry
It's a gorgeous woodland scene- there is a family of deer at the edge of a pond. The buck is standing, the doe is sitting, and the young one is in the water, drinking. It's done in mostly greens and browns. The side edges are fringed in blue. It's about five feet tall and about eight feet wide.

It was given to me by my roomie when I was stationed in England back in '75. He had two- I forget what the other one was. It was a departure gift to me when I shipped out- in return I gave him my collection of wall posters (some very stoney artwork), and other stuff I didn't want to pack and take back.

8. To my right
is a poster with a painting of a Supermarine Spitfire pursuing an Arado Ar-234 (the first jet bomber) that's just bombed the bridge at Remagen late in WWII. Next to that is a charcoal sketch by a friend of mine of an old blues man named Hound Dog Taylor.

9. Watercolor prints
by a lady named deMontegue. I was looking for the website but haven't found it. I actually got her work at a craft show and bought some limited addition watercolors.

Watercolor is not the word for these flower and leaf stilllifes. The color is so intense as to be arresting. I love her work but she's not well known. I have 6 watercolor prints of hers in my bedroom alone.
