1. Child abusing jerk--I won't watch any of his films
He should be ashamed of himself.

3. Actually both...
Roman Polanski is a convicted statutory rapist. I don't believe Woody Allen was convicted of anything, but he did marry his adopted daughter and most likely slept with her when she was underage or close to it. That being said, he is a gifted comic and one hell of a director.

5. Wasn't HIS adopted daughter.
It was his girlfriend's adopted daughter. They never lived together... she's a child collector.

8. A child collector
I'm glad she has given a good home to many children. That said, Woody didn't do anything legally wrong--I think his judgement was pretty bad though to have an affair with his girlfriends adopted daughter. He has done some outstanding films--but not lately.

9. He was a father to the girl, regardless of the legality
Incest isn't just about DNA or legal papers. It is about the role one serves in a child's life. If you are mom or dad to a child, to have a sexual relationship with that child is incest.

7. According to Wikipedia, Soon Yi was from 17-22 at the time.
At the time of her nude photos taken by Allen, she was anywhere from 17-22 as she had no birth certificate and no true indication of her correct age.

One correction in your post -- she was never adopted by Allen. She was adopted by Mia Farrow and Andre Previn.

They've been married now for 8 years and have two children, I believe.

The abuse charges that Mia made regarding a younger child were never prosecuted.

I don't boycott movies because of the personal lives of the producers and directors. I don't like Clint Eastwood's politics, but I love his movies. I don't "approve" of Roman Polanski, but I thought "The Pianist" was a masterpiece. I like art that I like, and I care not if the artist has personal problems. I don't like liberal actors' movies because they are liberal -- in fact, I can't abide Alec Baldwin movies.

6. No, he was not charged or convicted
But I believe Mia.

Robert Blake didn't get convicted of killing his wife, either...

11. Well, that's certainly a mature reason to avoid certain artworks.
not.

:sheesh:

p.s. - he was never found guity, so I'm not so sure we can call him a child-abuser, anyway.

10. The point is
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 02:26 PM by occuserpens
-- Allen did not do anything criminal
-- Movie stars are supposed to sleep around, this is the nature of their business.
-- As far as I am concerned, chasing girls is much better than gay affirs - not to mention financial machinations.
-- Most importantly...

What about ticket sales?

That's business after all!
