That's it! Christmas is officially over!
Daughter-in-law flew back to NYC last night, son went early this am. Brother of daughter-in-law left about an hour ago.

I took down the tree, packed up the decorations and put them in the attic. Sent the last of the fudge back to NY.

I only gained 2 pounds in the last month. Not too bad. Back to broccoli and water tomorrow.

The house is quiet, except for the drizzle of the rain on the windows. Time to watch the tapes of the Twilight Zone marathon and do a bit of decompressing.

Because tomorrow I go back to work.

Mz Pip
:dem:

Happy New Year from the left coast!

1. What a great pix! Beautiful.

Our tree is sooo ready to come down. We've had it up since Dec. 4th, so it's rapidly approaching "fire hazard" status.

Happy New Year to you!
:hi:

2. I took everything down today too
Still have some clean-up to do, but the house is now de-Christmas-ized.

Great pic, by the way! Happy New Year to you for another left coaster!

4. January 6th, Jan 7th is Christmas in Russia
It's because they use the old Julian calendar - 13 days behind our Gregorian one.

So Christmas hasn't even started yet!!!

5. no of course christmas isn't over
i feel i'm in a battle w. heathens these days, maybe you feel the same stellablue

you are supposed to leave up the lights for the kings to make their way, it is not over until jan. 6, sheesh, why have a lighted tree at all if you're going to jerk the rug out from under 'em?

what's wrong w. people? it is no more trouble to take down your lights on the right day than on the wrong day?

7. My tree didn't go down until into Lent last year
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 01:12 AM by Rabrrrrrr
Oops!

But that's because I like having it. It's pretty! And it was the first time I ever had my own Christmas tree, so I was doubly excited to keep it going as long as I dared...

12. yeah, I don't get it
I mean, I assume that the people who take the trees down on the day after Xmas as Protestants or cultural Protestants.

But in my mind, it's Xmas until the 6th! My 'holiday' tree is still up, too! Despite my mom going on and on about how it needs to come down already. haha

14. Some women get real depressed then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use to delivery flowers, it's a big contest at places like offices over who gets the most, who gets the biggest, who gets the most expensive flowers. I can tell you it's a lot cheaper to buy them from the florist and give them yourself instead of having them delivered but that's big point of flowers, the woman gets the attention of the whole place for X amount of time. Some of the women who never get flowers get depressed and sometimes hostile.

January 6th when the fucking wise men brought their gifts to the baby Jesus. You must keep your decorations up until then or risk being smited by the Lord's wrath.

Edit: spelling.
