i'm pretty strapped for time, but if it's a Du'er recommended book, i'll go check it out and read it...

4. I enjoyed it, but...
...it's kind of like Michael Moore's books, in that you're not really being told anything you don't already know.

I prefer Howard Zinn, for knock-down, drag-out research and fact-finding.

which of his books do you recommend? or were you referring to "a people's history"?

9. A People's History...
That's all I've read by him, as far as full-length books; I haven't seen any of his other books available up here.

I've read enough of his articles to know that I'll enjoy most everything I read by him, though.


As far as the Joh Perkins book, don't let me discourage you. I bought it after listening to him being interviewed on NPR(?) last year.

But what he says just made me go "Right, gotcha, corporations and the governement are in bed together, and exploit much of the developing world for profit... tell me something I don't know".

Some of his personal annecdotes are a little suspect, too, but I don't fault him too much for embellishing a little.
