Maybe there's some sort of hypnosis that could help you get in touch with the your inner UT spirit. I know it's harder for Aggies, but I bet there's something that could be done to turn you into a Longhorn...just think how GREAT it'll feel knowing your team is the NATIONAL CHAMPION! A&M can't give you that. We have more to offer you. Surrender to us.

lol, ok, no more bitchy longhorn attitude from me. I got my gloating off my chest with this thread.

The offensive coordinator still doesn't look smart to me, he just looks lucky because he had Vince Young to work with. The problem with UT is that it's too dependent on just one player...although the offensive line allows Young to do his thing so I guess I'm not totally right on this point.

Ever since I got back from Japan 5 years ago, I've been out of the loop when it comes to football (especially the NFL). I need to start watching more...I miss it.

Not that I mind all that much since I'm a fan, but almost everyone is wearing a UT shirt or sweatshirt today. In our defense however, Austin has never been a bastion for high fashion so wearing ugly colors shouldn't bug GOPisEvil THAT much. If not burnt orange, then most Austinites would be wearing some other ugly colored shirt with their jeans or khakis :)

Big Ten Opener - against Michigan. Didn't think I would still be in town and passed them on to my nephew and neice. Her first Hoosier (in person) experience. I ended up in town - and it was a great nailbiter. Hey, at least I gave my niece her first game... Couldn't grow up in B-ton in the era of one of the top five college teams ever (lost one game - during the tournament - over two seasons...) and not become a tad bit hooked.

Back in 1992-93 I was in the Ann Arbor - during the early Fab Five era... they were tons of talent - but didn't play with any coaching... can I tell you how many beers/dinners I won on bets on the two Indiana vs Michigan games that season. 70. ya, beating Kent Benson
and a bunch of guys who barely played in the previous two years... *snarky hoosier fan response, over* Seriously - it is always a kick to topple a team that has just won the championship.

Sorta like how great it feels for any team that beats Duke.

In fact, when Indiana did its surprise run to the Championship game a few years ago - it is attributed (the run during the tourney) to a comment from an asst coach for Duke. They were in the same regional - and Duke played Indiana in first in the round; in the coaches meeting this jerk asked if Duke would get a specific lockerroom for the finals (of that round). Implicit - before a minute of their game was played they assumed Duke would walk over Indiana. Guess it fired the Hoosiers up - who beat DUke - and then others until they couldn't overtake Maryland in the finals. Really - they were a great scramble team - but way overplayed (meaning played much better than the team they really were) during the DUke game and subsequent games.

Point being - I do get how great it is for the home team/fans to beat a team that is perceived to be *the* team.
