Indiana TV Station Refuses To Broadcast 'The Book Of Daniel'
<snip>

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- An Indiana television station is refusing to air NBC's new series, "The Book of Daniel," which debuts Friday.

On its Web site, WTWO in Terre Haute said its decision is "due to e-mails and calls from viewers."

"The Book of Daniel" is about an Episcopal priest with a drug-dealing daughter and two sons, one gay and the other promiscuous. The priest and his wife have substance abuse problems, and he's shown having regular chats with a hip, therapeutic Jesus.

The American Family Association's Don Wildmon predicts that viewer protests will prompt more stations to cancel the show.

"We are tired of NBC's anti-Christian bigotry," Wildmon said.

The WTWO general manager said he won't let the network "make unilateral decisions affecting our viewers."

1. I wouldn't air it either. It sounds like pure shit!
7th heaven with bigger problems. Why not just go whole hog and make a show about a child-molesting Priest?

3. The "7th Heaven with bigger problems" angle is what fascinates me
Seventh Heaven is so stupid because its just so damn fake.

One of their biggest dramas?

Their son, who is in college, had sex!

Gasp!

6. Umm, you weren't paying attention
Their oldest daughter was a renegade who lost a scholarship to college when she trashed the gym with her HS Basketball team. She later ran off with some dude who was older than her father. She was the bad one.

The oldest brother is lame, I'll grant you that.

Simon was running a dating service in one episode, a good scheme in which he was paid to escort single girls to functions where they needed to project the appearance of being able to attract good dates.

Not the biggest scandals, but it didn't seem like they contrived the show to make each character as fucked up as possible

2. Yeah. Who would want to see a show about someone who is human
and who has real problems, but still tries to lead a Christian life?

Fuck you, Don Wildmon.

"Unnhhhhh, we're gonna be offended by this show we've never seen, I'm sure... unhhhhh... but we're too goddamn stupid to change the channel, so we're gonna make you nbot show it so that we don't have to risk seeing it accidentally in our fucking inbred self-righteous wackjob asshole ignorance, unhhhhhnnnhhhh."

7. I guess the emails worked
They sent out spam on this show and I guess it worked. That's one thing we don't use enough.

12. I'm an atheist and this is on at a time when I'm on the road commuting
to work. However I might just have it recorded so I can watch it, just to piss off the fundies.

Unlike them, I know how to operate the "change channel" and "on/off" buttons on a television remote. If I don't like what I see I can just use them, rather than dictating what an entire region/nation can see. :eyes:
