There's a website and a book and it's all anonymous secrets people have sent in. One of them is something like:

I don't take my kids to the playground because I hate talking to the other moms.

that was not what made me angry
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 03:42 PM by hfojvt
I played darts with my brother and dad once, fully expecting to lose. Only I won!!!

Then we played another game. It turned into a two man race, with me bringing up the rear and getting further and further behind. My dad and brother would trade bullseyes and triple 20s. My darts would hit the bullseye and fall out. It would not have made me so furious if I had not been set-up by winning the first game.

edit: clearly irrational expectations.

63. Oh That'll Happen
Similar story happened to my dad. First time he ever played golf (around 1951) he went with guys from work at the dairy. He borrowed clubs, shoes and stuff from the guy who couldn't make the tee time. My dad told everyone he didn't know how to play, so they're all giving him pointers on fundamentals and all that.

First tee, he hits the ball over 200 yards (long for those days by an amateur/beginner) right down the middle. He hits the second shot just off the green. Everyone starts telling him he's a natural, or else he lied about never playing before.

Now he starts chipping. Hits a chip, 3 feet from the hole and makes the putt for par.

The next 17 holes, he averaged more than 9 shots per hole! He shot 141 for the round. Nobody called him a liar or a natural the rest of the day!

41. When I was three I had a drinking problem.
I kicked it by the time I got to kindergarten, but by the third grade, I had fallen in with a pack of meth-heads. By the time I got to fourth grade, I had no teeth and my marriage had imploded, and King Kong was dangling off my back, making dodgeball especially trying.

My agent staged an intervention and sent me off to Hazelden Detox Clinic that same year and I've been clean ever since, even during childbirth (no morphine for me, doctor sir!)
