13. I just approved your pics
very nice, too :hi:

(the only draw back on GFP is that there is an approval process because of spammers)

Thanks for sharing :toast:

5. "Bandwidth" = Money
This is an unforseen consequence of what happened when Information Technology met Capitalism.

We now have a new commodity called Bandwidth, created with our tax money, which we don't own.

In fact, there is a new form of crime called Theft Of Bandwidth, created by the people who "own" the commodity.

Gee, I wish I could mint my own crimes. I'd make it a crime for anyone to speak badly to me, to not send me a birthday card, and for pretty women to not sleep with me.

What it all comes down to is that we paid for the Computer Revolution, and now we're paying again.

And again.

And again.

If you want reliable hosting, you pay for it.

Peasant.

Or, you could call it "Banditwidth"

7. Wrong
The phone companies are the ones who set up the initial Darpanet with tax dollars. Then the internet was released to private industry and they built the rest for profit.

Bandwidth isn't free.

11. Wrong, how?
"The phone companies are the ones who set up the initial Darpanet with tax dollars."

I thought it was DARPA that set up DARPANet. DARPA is, and was, a part of the Department of Defense.

Either way, it sounds like our money was used. (It's that "tax dollars" part.)

"Then the internet was released to private industry ... "

In other words, they gave it away -- like just about the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

"Bandwidth isn't free."

You got THAT right!

Only imprisonment is free. And some (Red) states have begun charging rent.

12. Bandwidth wasn't and isn't created with tax money
The Gov't paid the phone companies for the dedicated lines between research and defense sites.

Now we pay the phone companies for the same priviledge. It's true that the concept was invented on Gov't dollars, but no matter which way you slice it, the phone companies were getting paid

8. If you want free, go with photobucket.
I use two hosting sites: photobucket, which is free, and ranchoweb, which I pay for. When it absolutely, positively has to be reliable, I use ranchoweb. However, as free site go, photobucket is the best.

10. pssst.
www.walagata.com

They're now accepting free memberships. Better than photofuckit. If you can spare 10 toadskins per year, you'll likely never fill up your account limit of photos or bandwidth.
