computer help - installed hp 2610 printer/fax/copier/scanner and now
my pop email does not work going out or in
right after I installed it
When I would try to start up browser - it tried to dial out even though it wasn't suppose to
I have looked at all kinds of settings and changed some and changed back. still doesn't work

But now I have a dialog box that comes up that asks for userid and password and then tries to dial out with a number not in my people pc connection - so I have not only messed up but now something else is hosed

IF you can help we can pm about what I get
Or we can post and maybe help someone else

thanks

10. Yeah was off awhile
Now watching again
Bad Moon rising
Need to see where it is headed.
Everyone now watching US verycarefully.
Hopeful course change
Everything very dependent on 2006
You can safely say we all watching to see if we need to "CUT AND RUN"
If we do that then it will be painful for the whole world
Might see worldwide deepression.
On the other hand if US continue this crazy course
It is a sure fire MEGA DISASTER a total MELTDOWN
Better to take a few bruises then end up with no arms and legs.

We are not abandoning America, but bush not making it easy for World to stay this course so soon we might be saying "FUCK IT"

Like I say Bad Moon rising we watching each other to see who blink first and bush blind to all this
The minute someone blink and run for the door the rest will follow last one out will be the sucker
and can have bush for company.

11. this is not a lounge post - the lounge is for meaningless communication
I put this in gen dis because more serious people are there and I truly needed an answer - I am saddened that you so are so new and thought to jump on this

15. Meaningless communication? Meaningless to who? I'm real green
but I have seen a lot of questions like this answered to the lounge? Was yours "above" the standard meaningless communication criteria for the lounge?

Oh, I guess that poster hasn't been around long enough to know the unwritten elitist rules of that nature :eyes:.

What other advice should I heed?

But...you might want to try to contact your internet provider and give you some updated settings.:)
Good luck!

12. no donor star - I tried Gen dis because it would not sink so fast
and usually serious people are there. The lounge has lots of meaningless or smokey visitors at this time of night

I know there is a computer group - but again - I am looking for an answer now not several days from now

thanks for your suggestions

5. Un install & Reinstall the printer drivers.
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 08:48 PM by RC
There is a common DLL for the fax and Outlook.

So why was this moved to the Lounge? The request for help seemed real to me.

13. where are the print drivers? I went to the device manager
but there are so many listings for this new device

I tried the uninstall with the modem because I knew it would automatically go out and find it again

Not sure why a newbie would say move it to the lounge and it was moved - doesn't belong here

it is probably on page 4 by now and will not get much more assistance - aaaarggghhh

So if you can tell me where and how to uninstall and reinstall the print drivers that will help

I may try posting this in gen d again tomorrow since I really need help here

16. Go to the Control Panel - Add/remove programs
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 09:45 PM by RC
and remove the printer/Fax. It should be listed under the manufacture, HP or whoever.

Maybe you would want to think about using FireFox and Thunderbird or Netscape?

18. once I remove them there - won't I need to use the install disk
again - or are they plug and play loaded

Will my email from Mozilla automatically export into thunderbird if I install firefox and thunderbird?

How will that make a difference?

I don't use outlook but it is acting like that.

19. You will need the printer/Fax CD
Each function has its own set of drivers. The computer sees each function, Fax, printer, scanner, etc. as a separate machine.

I use Netscape. I loaded Firefox just to see what all the noise & fanfare was about. Firefox and later Thunderbird both set themselves up the current Netscape Bookmarks and e-mails. They coexist just fine because like Mozilla they all have the same 'engine'.
The reason I use Netscape because it has some bell & whistles I want, which are missing from Firefox.

* * * * * **
Again, why did they move this to the Lounge? On the say-so of a 10 post newbie yet?

I referenced this in the Computer Help & support group.

20. thank you for posting in computer area - no response
yes the newbie - and I commented back and got another newbie smart remarks - oh well - I decided to uninstall and when I did - I tried uninstalling a scanner I no longer have hooked up and ran into a error - and when online to hp and am resolving that one - my computer now reboots itself sometimes - has to do with phone connection - aaarrrghhh

when you are in Network connections
and you right click on the network you want
there is an option at the top
Connect

that is where this is automatically trying to connect that it shouldn't and now I can't find the dial box that is in
there is a connection box that comes up when I click my isp icon - and I connect =

just still can receive email - I installed thunderbird
when I download firefox
it comes down ok but when I double click to install - it has 7 - zip error and will not do anything
is it corrupt at mozilla -
