Poll question: I feel like baking, help me pick a project!
I want to make something sweet tonight but I'm not sure what to do. I'm out of crispy rice cereal, so I can't make marshmallow treats (and before anyone asks, yes of course I have special gelatin free vegan marshmallows) and I'm still cookied out from last month and I made 2 pies last week. I'm thinking something not super sweet, but I can't decide if I'd rather do cinnamon rolls or pumpkin bread, so I'm leaving the decision up to the lounge.

Thanks everybody!

1. Not too sweet.. how about pear franchipan tarts?
I've worked in some bakeries, and these were the best not-too-sweet item. It's rich, though, with buttery crusts, almond filling and caramelized baked pears.

9. Do you have a link to a recipe?
I have no idea what those are or how I'd go about making them but they sound interesting. :)

It's okay if the recipe isn't vegan, unless it's got something really off the wall in it I can probably convert it with a minimum of fuss. I'm talented. ;)

23. Wow, I went to bed before I saw that.
I copied a lot of torte and cake & tart recipes into my notebook while I was working at one bakery. I'l try to dig it up and send it to you. :) :9

2. Cinnamon rolls!
I use this recipe:
http://www.joyofbaking.com/breakfast/CinnamonRollsBuns.html

(I'm sure it can be made vegan, but you know the conversion better than I do.)

I like the overnight rise...make it tonight, bake it tomorrow.

7. Ooh, those look fluffy
My current cinnamon roll recipie is one I veganized myself, so I'm probably up to the challenge. :)

6. I'd die.
Well maybe, I might just end up in the hospital. I'm very allergic to bananas.

8. I don't know the name of the cookies I'm craving.
I like those cookie-bars made from condensed milk, chocolate chips and coconut but they're so much trouble to make. I'd feel really guilty asking you to go to such lengths just for a thread and all... :hi:

10. Well I don't know of any with condensed milk
(I'm vegan, so dairy's right out) but I do make some really great cookies with chocolate, coconut and oatmeal. I'll post a pic if I make some. :)

16. I could be wrong about the condensed milk.
I always see this cookie during the holidays and I can't track down the recipe. Love to hear about any vegan cookies with chocolate, coconut and oatmeal! Thanks! :)

15. I did an image search for congo bars.
These cookies look exactly like what I'm thinking of:

If your congo bars turn out like this then you've just made a friend for life -- I love these cookies and never knew what they're called! :D

14. Pumpkin bread.
I made pumpkin pie filling earlier and baked it in a casserole, no crust. It's delicious, especially warm.

18. Is there such a thing as vegan cheesecake?
I think you can make some equivalent with silken tofu or something, and that way you can know the sublime glory that is pumpkin cheesecake.

But you may not want to be arsed with making it tonight, so I say go with the pumpkin bread.

(and probably some other stuff) from the store.

21. but of course
I love extra spicy pumpkin stuff, I made two pumpkin pies last week and ate nearly all of them myself. Tried to convince myself that wasn't unhealthy, after all pmumkin's good for you and tofu's good for you...

22. If you could figure out how to make Kolachi like Ma Red did,
I'd pay real money for the recipe. They were cookies made with cream cheese dough, and ground up nuts and raisens. I have looked and looked, and can't find them.
