Teenagers are a big pain in the ass!

They think the world revolves around them. How can get though to them that they don't come from a wealthy family. The road for them is going to be long and hard.

8. I think a lot of moms feel that way.

I know I put my mom through some hell, but after I "grew up" (I hate that, I'm only 20) and moved out, we've been great friends and can talk about everything.

14. Mine just did -- she's 28

It's temporary, but could be a year or so, depending on the kind of job she finds. We're still in the honeymoon phase -- she just got home Sunday night. She's sure I'm going to drive her nuts. She's been out of the house since she went to college at 18 -- and she's been out of state all that time except for the summer after her freshman year and the occasional holiday. Should be interesting.

15. Hey I from Michigan

My daughter wants to go to University of Michigan. I told we would talk after Community college. Than I have one that is hopefully graduating this year. Boy I am getting grey. The kicker is I have also have a 6 year old yes all from the same hubby. Sometimes I want to just run like hell. The topper is I am 45 still working full time for their asses. Sorry just had to vent I'll be ok now.

Obviously from my avatar, I went to UofM -- graduated in 71. I'm a bit older than you are -- 56.

20. i've been a teenager

and remember feeling like it was the worst thing i could be. thank god i've kind of moved on through the stage and now get to watch my mother, from a mother's point of view, go through things with my brothers that she probably went through with me. i do not look forward to when my son enters this period. but, through lots of honesty and humor i'm hoping to make it through ok. and i'm hoping he'll be able to survive as well. i try to picture children as little alcoholics and love them the way i know how. which is usually through the smoke of a cigarette and a laugh that says, just wait for the real bullshit ahead of you.

25. My grandparents raised the four of us.

My grandmother had to deal with three teen guys at once and a nearly teen girl. However we stayed out of obvious mischief and we all went on to college with little problem. Probably because my grandmother, although a small woman, had the knack of intimidating the Hell out of people, even serving Naval officers. I wish I had inherited THAT ability!

26. Teens must demonize parents in order to break away from them.

I'm not exactly sure why, but this seems to cover it. From both a been-a-teen and parent-of-a-teen viewpoints. Oh yes, and you are trying to destroy their happiness by giving them what they want or by not giving them what they want. Or by asking "how are you doing". Or by not asking "how are you doing".
