Triple Sec

Man, that's some good shit when you use it to make a Kamikaze in the summertime, with some Rose's lime juice and vodka. But some people screw it up by trying to be original, and shit, puttin' shit in there that doesn't belong.

I puked for 2 days on the mighty Sec once. That was 18 years ago, when a friend and I each stole a bottle (it was the quickest thing to grab) , from a lame frat party we decided to ditch.

Just a teeny weeny taste with the vodka and lime juice. Honest.

Obviously, not in an abomination like a Kamikaze - the subtly will be destroyed in the oversugared crappiness - or in a cocktail with a lot of parts, since the subtly will get overpowered by the other ingredients.

. . . if too much Triple Sec is used. Honest.

Kamikazes are not meant to be sweet. The Triple Sec effect should be subtle.

1.5 oz Gin
.75 oz Lemon Juice
.25 oz Campari
.25 oz Triple Sec

A delicious and wonderful cocktail, indeed.

That and the Maiden's Prayer, the two divinely inspired feminine-named cocktails that speak of subtly, sensuality, and a time outside of time where love is pure and every day in the enchanted forest is sunny and bug free and filled with nothing but happiness and playful games.


Until the guy a few rows of oak trees down orders the Hemingway Daiquiri and pumps a few elephant rounds through your head and yells at ya to calm it down because a man doesn't make a scene frollicking in the forest with a wood nymph unless he's been to war and had his head hammered with mortar fire for two weeks of constant pounding with no ouzo to quiet down the brain and hands covered in the blood of his comrades, making him a man, but not the kind his mother wanted, no, a man's man with emptiness behind his eyes and dreams long forgotten because something else had to be done.
