62. I like the corvids even though they have a bad reputation.
People seem to hate jays the most. A parrot fancier I once knew described Steller's jays as "the only bird the devil made."

Corvids, like parrots, are very intelligent. I raised a young crow that fell out of the nest, once. Very smart birds! I've always thought it would be neat to have pet ravens. I'd name them "Quoth," "Poe," and "Nevermore." ;) Of course, it's illegal to have native birds as pets so I just enjoy the big ravens that live in the high country and sometimes fly into town to check out the primate set.

They're rather large birds. It's easy to tell them from crows in flight because ravens have wedge-shaped tails while crows' tails are squared off. Also, ravens are quite a bit bigger and have a coarser voice. I sometimes wish I could get closer to them. Sometime I'm going to scope out the resident ravens at Pinecrest Lake. They tend to stay high in the Ponderosas were you can't see them. :(

47. LOL! I love the cladistic notion that birds are dinosaurs.
I think it's probably true, too. I love looking at that beautiful archaeopteryx fossil and artists' conceptions of feathered dinosaurs. I drew a few in my notes I might post if I'm in a playful enough mood. :)

56. I like the idea of a feathered Tyrannosaur
Imagine a feathered Tyrannosaur bellowing "ALL DONE!" as he chases his prey...I do wonder whether dinosaurs had a greater vocal range than is supposed.

44. Emu
Emus are largely solitary creatures; unlike many other birds, they seem to have no need for company and mutual grooming. They roam the continent searching for the best feeding areas, and although they can form enormous flocks, this is not a truly social behaviour, simply a matter of going where the food is.
