Songs with the best musical entrance(ie "Can't Always Get What you Want")
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 02:24 PM by LynneSin
What songs have the best opening musical en terence - ie that elongated organ solo or guitar riff that introduces the song for about a minute before the singer starts singing. The classic choice for many (probably from "Big Chill" fame) would be "Can't Always Get what You Want" by the Rolling Stones.

My favorites from Led Zeppelin: Your Time is Gonna Come (great organ solo by John Paul Jones) and The Rover (Jimmy Page starts off with the guitar solo well before Plant sings).

What other great songs have awesome musical openings!

5. Again, I submit "Intro/Sweet Jane" by Lou Reed
Off "Rock and Roll Animal"

That intro is truly sublime....a masterwork of 70's Arena Guitar. It would make Jimmy Page weep...

20. No contest--Etta James's "At Last"
At last
My love has come along
My lonely days over
And life is like a song

Ooh, at last
The skies above are blue
Well my heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream
That I could speak to
A dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
To press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Well

You smile
you smile
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine at last

37. I know exactly what version you're talking about.
I grew up listening to The Moody Blues . They are my dad's favorite band and he used to listen to them every Sunday afternoon while drinking his Old Style.
Nights in White Satin is a beautiful song but my favorites by them have to be either Legend of a Mind or Are You Sitting Comfortably. For some reason Question used to scare the crap out of me.
